The last version of Sensible Soccer which die hard fans will continue too claim is the best football game ever despite reality.
It's like me saying a VW Beetle is better than a Porche, that's how sad it is.

There ain't...
But until there is, there are plenty of games you can use to avenge Portugal's defeat at the hands of a team filled mainly with MLS players...LOL!
Portugal. What a pathetic team. All that talent, and nothing to show for it. '06? Naw. They'll still suck.

Thats great but what are those of us who have no interest in the MLS supposed to do? I end up playing World tour soccer more than Fifa just because of the Portuguese league. Although they don't have the licensing for the names of the clubs they use the cities name. You can always edit the names of the clubs and even uniforms. The only crappy part is that there are no logos and crests. Can anyone recommend a could soccer title with Uefa teams and leagues in it? In my opinion Fifa's last good game was Fifa 99. They had some good leauges and teams in it.

Funny I noticed you are a Brasil fan....your probably just a Bandwagon fan. The US has lost for so many years that you had to have another National team to cheer for and why not Brasil with their 5 World Cups. Look at the Portuguese league and take a look at how many Brasilians are playing there. The US does well at one World Cup and now their fans think they are the Kings of Soccer. Until the USA realises that soccer is really called football they will never get respect....LOL!

This coming from someone who lives in CALIFORNIA. You can have your Portuguese league. I'll take 3-2 in the WC. If Portugal is so great, why don't you go back there.
LOL
sigh...

I pay my taxes I have more than every right to live here!! Just don't call my team Pathetic because that is one thing Portugal and it's league aren't. I will be the first to say Portugal didn't deserve to get past qualifying but you have no right to call us pathetic. Give teams like England, Spain, and any team in Uefa credit. To play the amount of games and play through the injuries they had in a long season and then go play in a WC. I gurantee that if the USA's players played abroad with their schedules over there it would of been a lot harder to get where they got. Not to say it wouldn't of happened but it would of been a lot more difficult.
Anyway back to the topic Fifa 2001 sucked, Fifa 2002 sucked and Fifa 2003 will probably suck. The sad thing is that I still own them.......It's a sickness but what can you do. That's probably why the games suck they know we will still by them.

Pro-Evolution soccer is imho the best action soccer game available, I'd definitely recommend it if you want a 'realistic' action soccer game rather than the more 'arcadey' approach of FIFA.
SWOS (Sensible World of Soccer) was a great game in its time - but to be honest having played it again fairly recently I think my memories of it are rose-tinted somewhat by time.

That's a disease of the entire games Industry.
The amount of Bull*************** about how old games were better is so pathetic.
People say it about TV, films, football, it never ends, it's purely psyhcological, look at the reality.
Modern games piss all over old games and then some.

Anytime a new league is formed, it will start at the bottom. People are resistant to change, and the one factor that makes baseball, football, and basketball successful in this country is their tradition. Grandfathers pass their love of the game on to their sons, who pass the love of the game on to their sons. Well, now that we have a professional soccer league here in the states, that tradtion is starting. It's definitely not something that will create a huge following in a day; rather, it will grow slowly over a period of years until it is etched, just like the rest, in american sports culture. If there is any part of you that would like to see soccer grow in this country, you owe it to yourself and to the MLS to support our league.
By purchasing Fifa, you're choosing a game with inferior gameplay for the lone benefit of having all of the leagues. But multiple leagues doesn't fix a horrid game .My guarantee to you is that if you play the MLS Extratime series, you won't go back to Fifa again.

I've been supporting Brasil since '82- almost as long as you've been alive, asshole... If I'm a bandwagon fan of any team, it's the US.
3-2.
Scoreboard, Eurotrick. Your team is still pathetic.

oh man I love MLS extratime on the gamecube, the action is soooooo good. I love winning eleven too.
but man fifa 99 was junk! the pitch was the size of a stamp and the tackling was terrible. I like World Tour Soccer too but I got to say I think MLS Extratime 2k2 and Winning Eleven are my favorites.

Yeah it's a shame for whatever reason they didn't come out with Extratime 2002 for the ps2...that pisses me off. I still have Gamenight which is a psone game though. The gameplay in that is top notch.
How on earth have you played Winning Eleven? Illegal mod chip perhaps? If so, tell me how i can hook my system up with one of those. :)

I see what you are saying but without preeching to much I will say. I really don't care if soccer catches on here. Growing up I owe nothing to USA soccer. I group up with my family listening to shortwave radio listening to the games from portugal just because there was no soccer at all to watch here. Now with technolgy of the internet, satelites and others things I can get all the soccer I need. It is good to see soccer grow here but is is still the but of many jokes here I hope is grows but I just don't have the interest. When I play a video game I want to recognise the teams, stadiums, and players and Unfortunatly MLS video game doesn't give me that. With that beeing said I have caught a couple of Eartquake games to try and support. It's just sad a lot of people don't get the sport although they try there is just to much of that american sport mentality and that is what holds soccer back here in the USA. People here have this crazy idea that you need a10-9 score for it to be exciting.

So did Italy. But I don't support the Azzurri, I simply respect them for their tradition.
Germany had two, Uruguay had two, and Portugal had, and STILL has... none. :p Your point, whatever it is, is pointless.

What's pathetic is the amount of time you've obviously spent worrying about what teams other posters follow. You seem to want others to support Portugal, so they can share in your misery. Were you born in Portugal, or are you just a stupid mother********er who chose to follow a team that got outclassed by MLS and Korean league players?

some old games are really good too. if only the makers upgrade the graphics and sounds, I know a lot of games that can still rock. well, i guess i'm just getting old.

because games like PES2 and Winning XI aren't available for American PS2s.
