Sorry if this a a no-brainer, but I saw different calls on the same situation this past weekend.
Player 1 is in an off-sides position.
Player 2 plays to ball toward Player 1.
The ball deflects of a defender's leg.
Player 1 controls the ball.
Offsides?

offside.
a deflection by the defence DOES NOT nullify offside - same as a miskick.
When the defence has control, however, it's a different matter

Agreed. Must be possession, deflections don't count.

yup. offside. no referee should miss this one. Of course, we're assuming player 2 is a teammate of player 1

If either player 2 or the defender is on the same team, then player 1 is offside!

Yet they do. Even some coaches think a touch nullifies offside.

There seems to be a lot of questions about offside on this forum.

You don't have to be female to be blond.
