Looks like Morientes is ours if we want him.

In my point of view, that has just made things worst!I mean,if owen does go,they will never let morientes leave, since there is no other striker available other than Raul,Ronaldo and Morientes(lets not forget that portillo is on loan to Florentina). But i think that move to juve is very unlikely.if owen made up his mind to leave liverpool,it was to play alongzied the best and be the best.he will never give up so quickly, since hese a very ditermined man.think hell stay in Real for 2 years, and then see what he will do next.
But i think that Morientes will not go to Juventus because they have splashed out so much money over the summer (more than 40 euros) ,and that there curent strikers are playin very well.

Owen won't leave Madrid anytime soon, as much as I'd like for that to happen, it won't.

No chance, by moving to Juve is admitting defeat in his fight for a starting place in Real Madrid, and being a dickhead in opting to quit Anfield. Nah, unless he wants a slap in the face :D .

All talk. If and when he leaves Madrid, I believe he wonder consider a move back to Anfield a head of anything else

I think you're right. I bet Owen is wishing he were stilll there. He should never have left, but oh well, he made his bed as they say.

All of their strikers are injured right now. Trezeguet is out for at least 3 months, del Piero has a tendinitis problem, and Ibrahimavic has recurring back pain that's keeping him out at the moment. I know the Jan. transfer window's quite a ways off, but their current rash of injuries may make them consider another purchase like Owen.
The general consensus on this board is that Owen would never leave Real b/c he isn't a quitter. But honestly, if he keeps warming the bench, why wouldn't he leave? There's no point sitting on on the bench when you're in the prime of your career.
And playing alongside the best players in the world? Juve is a pretty class side. Barring their current injury problems, they would wipe the floor with Real right now.
I'm not saying it'll happen, but I wouldn't consider it highly unlikely.

yeah, guess that u are right.but with those 3 strikers(lets remember that Ibrahimavic and del Pieros problems are short term injuries, maybe 3 weeks),what juve needs is only a backup striker .nothin special and someone that can do the job and thats not to expensive, since i dont see them spending more that 6 million euros on a striker.

IIRC Under FIFA transfer rules a player can only transfer between 2 national associations in a season - which rules Owen out going anywhere till the end of the Spanish season?

Precisely. He can't move to Juve in January, even if he wanted to. Besides, he's just moved into a house in Madrid, he's got his family with him ... I can't see him upping sticks again just yet.
If, as seems increasingly likely now, Morientes comes to Anfield in January and, as would seem increasingly urgent now, Real Madrid appoint a proper long-term manager before then, Owen's chances of a more regular place in the side take a definite upswing. He's got no reason to leave and every reason to be patient and keep working hard.

I don't know what you guys think, but I thought Baros played well this weekend, he just needs a good run in the team. He certainly is a work horse.
So if Morrienties does come, I just hope that he does not out Baros. Top teams need 4 quality strikers these days

Yeah, Baros has been doing well - particularly given that Cisse has yet to catch fire. But there are significant aspects of Baros' play that need to improve before he can justifiably be considered a dependable leading striker. His tactical awareness is poor and he still does little for the players around him.

There was a blurb in the Soccernet review of Charlton / Newcastle that rumors were swirling in the press box that Newcastle are mulling a January transfer of Owen. That would be ridiculous (and i'm sure it's just a stupid rumor anyway, but at least pertinent to the discussion here)

Well, as discussed - they can't go for him in January. It would be against UEFA rules. So that's that dead. But beyond that - yes, I agree. It woudl be ridiculous to get another striker up there, especially with Bellamy always one step away from another temper tantrum.

NO!!!theres no way owen will go to Newcastle.Owen kept on saying that he was disapointed that we werent in the champions league, and oviously well get the 4th spot,so they are doomed.Theres also rumours that he would go to everton ,but i think hell stay in Madrid for atleast 2 yrs.

He will stick it out, he may go on loan somewhere, but I still think his real love is Anfield. I can see him doing a Rushie and making a return one day.

I've heard people claiming that this also rules out any possible move for Morientes, since he was at Monaco last season. Are they right? After all Morientes was only loaned out.

There have been reports of that nature, but they make no sense - the rules apply to seasons, not calendar years. So a loan move for Morientes this season would not be affected by a loan period from last season. If it did, then how can we have Diarra out on loan for a second successive season? By the rules as stated in the Morientes rumour, that would not have been allowed.

On a sort of related topic, I hear that He broke his scoring drought For REAL by clinching the winner in their CL match this morning, maybe things are looking up for him....
