Are you talking the old-fashioned kind of astroturf, which is horrible and dangerous unless you're wearing something flat, like sambas, or the newer "field turf", which is suitable for so-called turf shoes?

I have a pair of the Total 90 III Turfs ... they are very confortable, and I get good touch on the ball with them. I've actually resorted to wearing them on the hard "grass" fields that I play on around Baltimore.
By the way, Puma makes really good turf shoes also ...

astroturf? to be honest - One of the worse things you can play on. You dont wanna fall down, or else your knees and elbows will be burining more than anything.
I play on astroturf in summer, i recommend accual firm ground cleats. Its the best because you never slip and stuff. Astro turf is like a sponge, it doesnt have the little needles like the synthetic turfs do so the ball moves so quickly on it. I dont like it too much,

I have the AZT90 III turfs and they are really good for all round wear. I was just playing on muddy grass in the rain today and i didnt slip over once!!!!!
We have just got a new astro turf pitch at our school it has a full size pitch and two 7-a-side courts and its alright..... but you cant go in for sliding tackles or you burn just about every where and when you do over head kicks and stuff like that when you land you nearly break your back because there is big pointy stones underneath a very thin plastic carpet, 3cm of salt, sandy stuff, small rubber bits (that piss you off cos they get in your boots!!!!) and the plastic grass. They are good to play on when its wet because the salt absorbs the water and you dont slip that much (if you have studded boots)

If you are playing on Field Turf, I would suggest either regular firm ground boots or hard ground boots.
For old 'Astroturf' style fields, do not, ever under and circumstances, wear anything other than flats/trainers or turf boots - the kind with many really short nubs. Anything else and you are risking injury and you will ruin your boots.
