Does anyone have any heads up on who Chelsea may pick up in January?
....Hopefully some strikers that can put the ball in the back of the net more consistantly. :D

If Mutu leaves, I would guess we might see someone coming in. But with Forsell and Cole on the horizon..............

When you are giving up 0 you only need to put in 1. We are and will be just fine. We are only going to get better.

With Drogba, Gud, Kez, plus Duff, Robben & J. Cole soon to be fighting for time in the front 3, and my impression of JM, there will be no hurry to add a big ego striker when Mutu starts the new year in Italy. Though I think Roman and Keynon might want one more, if anyone probablyTorres.

With a chance that Forsell might recover in the late seaon and be able to see a little time, I hope we stand pat, unless pigs fly and Sheva or Henry somehow became available. JM has sounded positive on C. Cole and Forsell so as long Kez works out, I think one of them will fit in better as a 4th striker.

There's no need for another striker right now. The only thing we need is a pacey right winger, like Joaquin for example.

I had heard that Mutu was sticking around. At any rate, I don't think it's a matter of needing new players; I'd like to see Chelsea attack a little bit more but I think their current strikers are more than capable of doing so.

I would say Chelsea need a new striker full stop.

Here's my opinon on your options.....

Gudjohnsen - nice fella, seems a bit lost without his buddy Jimmy playing for you....

JFH - gone to better things (thanks for not keeping him btw....much appreciated. :D)

Mateja Kezman - Or my name for him - "Whats the Mateja?" Can't hit a barndoor for some reason. Was amazing for PSV season before last and suddenly his confidence has hit rock bottom. Now has brought his temperment and lack of form into the Chelsea side.

Didier Drogba - (through gritted teeth) Can score against PSG (#coughs# - wanker!) Is good in the air and will score about 15-20, maybe if you count in europe. Maybe a CL forward, is strong enough to do well at Chelsea.

Adrian Mutu - When Mourinho said piss off, he meant for Ade to leave not to give a dodgy urine sample..... Probably get a 2 year ban from FIFA, so - goodbye!

Carlton Cole - Says he wants to stay at Villa. Could well do so, big strong and quick. You can see why Aston Villa want to keep him. IMO - You should not let him go. He is class and has the potential to be World Class.

Mikael Forssell - Bad injury - Proven in the EPL. Will he be able to conjure up that form with his time with Birmingham? Chelsea will have to wait till next season and hope so.....

==========================================

Well that's now. But with Abramovich at the helm, you can get anyone you like in Jan. Okay now lets be realistic here.......

Fernando Morientes - Target man, on the outs at Real with the arrival of Owen. Needs pinpoint crosses and decent service, what Chelsea have. Will be clinical for the Blues.

Wagner Love - Roman's purchase for his invested CSKA. A stint in Moscow and Cl football to boot, could give him the experinece to make it to a big league. Definetly one to watch in the future.

Christian Vieri - maybe not a popular choice. But is big and powerful and someone who will hold the ball up. Chelsea haven't been doing this recently. The wrong side of 30, but Inter would get rid of him and he will be a stop-gap to solve the crisis at the minute.

Pauleta - Portuguese manager - Portuguese striker. Will score and has fallen out with Vahid Halilhodzic, the PSG manager. Coming from the words of a PSG fan - HANDS OFF!

Luca Toni - Negatives (Italian) Postives (see Vieri) More positives (younger than Vieri.)

Johan Vonlanthen - Young, better than Rooney (IMO), maybe too young - but there are links between PSV and Chelsea right now.

Aleksandr Kerzhakov - Purely another marketing gimmick for Abramovich. Topscorer in Russia and will keep the owners happy.

Fernando Torres - VERY expensive. Can he cut it in the EPL? Has a repuation for being a diver and getting needlessly sent off. A bit of a risk.

Andriy Shevchenko - Abramovich flies out to Milan in his private jet and makes Sheva an offer he can't refuse. He does and mysteriously disappears several nights later......

Benni McCarthy - former Portuguese topscorer, could rejoin Mourinho, but then IMO - isn't good enough for you.

Dimitar Berbatov - no. Me neither. Sprung on this list by virtue of the fact he is Bulgarian and plays in Germany. Martin Petrov is now at the clubs HQ.

Emmanuel Olisadebe - Suprisingly S***t hot in CM4, but in real life wasn't the player he was in 2001 ish and gets injured alot.

Michael Owen - errrrr........okay then.

Jermaine Defoe - the words potential judas spring to mind. Wouldn't leave Spurs unless the money was good.

Jan Koller - taller than Big Ben, Dortmund need cash. Fast. And he is tall and quite skillful. A scourge to opposing defences.

Carlos Tevez - Work permit. Nuff said.

Dirk Kuyt (not a pornstar name) - golden boy of Dutch football right now. Would a move to the bridge suit him. Is he more a wide striker than a target man, what you really need?

David Trezeguet - money and a matter of that shoulder surgery.

===========================================

I would go for Morientes or Vieri, IMO.....

Ha ha, I just looked at my last post and realized how hilarious it is in light of 1) Saturday's match and 2) the latest on Mutu. *sigh*

That was a pretty good assessment. I think Vieri has had his day to be honest and I can’t see that happening. I like the look of Morientes and we do need a striker with craft, like a Zola, but I thought Morientes is joining Liverpool?

I think Drogba is easily an improvement on Jimmy – despite Jimmys return to form at Borro, we were right to let him go.
I think Forrssell is a better player than Kezman, from what I’ve seen so far, But Mikael is injured so the point is moot and I’m sure Kezman shall get better.
Eidur is a good player and a Chelsea man and has a future at the club.

We have never really replaced Zola, some might say he is irreplaceable, but he is the type of striker we need to set this new Chelsea team alight. Shevchenko is the only player I can think of who even remotely comes close and he is settled in Milan.

Until the right player comes along or is found I would be reluctant to sign anyone, but would see what we could do with Duff and Robben and Joe Cole.

That my friend is the million dollar question...

I honestly think this team is missing a "soul" right now. Someone to rally around. Last year Lamps form made him the man, before that it was Zola or Wisey. They could use someone like a Stephen Gerrard more than a striker in my opinion. I can live with playing Kez, Drogba, Eidur...Duff or Robben can also play up front.

I'd like to see them play a staggered strike pairing with Drogba up front with someone playing behind him (like Scholes does for RvN.)

But that's all just my opinion...someone needs to put the ball in the net. (I wish Glen Johnson and Parker would get a run sometime too...wishful thinking I guess)

more than one person has suggested a zola-like forward be brought in in January, well the choice seems obvious...ZOLA! bring The Wizard back to the Bridge for half a season in january, then give him a position at the new Chelsea academy. simple as that.

Lordy i miss him :(

Since you're a Gunner fan, would you be happy with a thought of English skipper coming grom Real to Highbury? Also, why is Arsenal scoring so much more than Chelsea in the EPL, but less in CL?

I would love to see you guys draw Man U, so we can end your run in Dec at Highbury. :)

I dont really think Beckham would suit our style of play
We play along the ground and Beckham is all about crossing and stuff

I dont know an answer to your 2nd question
