I have a question, what about if they wore different brand shinguards? Would anyobody find out or care if they did that?

To be honest I think that's a bit sad that the German FA has allowed that to happen. I mean fair play to Adidas for convincing them ($$$) to do that because that's some major advertising but I'd be pretty pissed off if I was told I couldn't play for someone unless I wore a certain type of boot - when I want to wear something completely different.

what if they were nike sponsered athletes? then they'd break the contract

What about Miroslav Klose? I think he is sponsored by Nike.

in the german team, klose hammam and lehman wear nike. but hammam wears the adidas copas during german internationals. u guys realise that klose seldom start for germany nowadays ? i suspect its due to the adidas-german thing. wot cha think

I think the level of play > whatever the player is wearing.
So, it's probably not a huge problem.

Klose doesn't play becasue he sucks these days not because he wears Nike. You people are starting to take this brand name rival thing over the edge. Personal shoe contracts are the last thing a coach worries about when selecting a player for a national team for god's sake.

As for the Adidas thing with Germany and Hollywood FC the individual sponsers of players involved with those teams know that they will have to wear adidas only when playing for them and that is not an issue, see players like Hargreaves and Kuryani both Puma players who wear adidas when playing for either their club(Hargreaves) or country(Kuryani).

It is not as common these days but most national teams at one point had exclusive contracts with sponsers to provide kits and boots for national teams at all levels the, USA wore only adidas when they sponsered them in 80's through the mid 90's. As individual contracts became a bigger deal this fell by the way side now very few teams enforce a policy of wearing the kit suppliers boots(youth teams are the exception here for the most part).
