LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Phil Jackson called his relationship with Kobe Bryant at times a ``psychological war'' and sought to trade his star guard in January, according to a diary of the former Lakers coach.

Jackson said the strain between him and Bryant led him to hire a therapist to consult with during the season, according to the Los Angeles Times, which printed excerpts from the magazine article in its Tuesday edition.

Phil Jackson had to hire a therapist to coach Kobe? I never heard anything like this before.

Discuss.

It just proves what everybody else already knew that Kobe is a whining bytch and was the reason that the Lakers are a completely different team this year.I cant' believe he actually complained about the jet taking him to Colorado.

One thing's for sure, Kobe should've read White Boy Shuffle (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0805053514?v=glance) like Jackson told him to. One of the funniest, smarterst books I've read.

let's also be fair, later in the article doesn't it say that Jackson and Bryant reached a level of understanding and trust.

However, if the earlier trade had gone through, Jason Kidd and Shaq on the same team! my goodness

Yes,Jackson said they did reach a level of trust, however it wasn't a level of trust to the point where they could win a championship.

Great book and there's a reason Phil told him to read it.
