I found this at Argentina's Diario Ole. It's in Spanish but it basically says what the thread title says, that Chivas owner Jorge Vergara wants to purchase Spain's Atletico de Madrid.
Vergara also stated that he is in negociations to buy the club Universitario from Peru. Man, how much money does this guy have anyway?

He's been negotiating for Atletico Madrid longer than he has been working with MLS.

do you guys think that if chivas usa is sucessful that vergara will invest in another team in mls like aeg and hunt have done? maybe he will expand to houston before club america gets there.

What would he call the team, Chivas USA 2? I wish he'd have put LA in the club title in case this happens though I think most want MLS at 1 investor per team in our lifetimes.

Nah, he'd call it Atletico Minnesota, and MLS can have a true Super Classico with Atletico vs. Real.

I don't know if I'd want a new owner who has more than 1 team in the league. I want Hunt and AEG to sell all but one team.
