I figure I really don't need to write this but then again it can't hurt. I trust that everyone who is capable will be at the game Thursday night (preferably with friends and family in tow). While I always like to see good ratings for our espn2 matches, I would much rather have you watching from the stands then at home. Anyone who was at the game on Saturday can tell you what an amazing atmosphere there was at RFK. We need that again Thursday night. I know many of you have not been thrilled with how our season has gone this year (who has been?) but if you claim to be a supporter of this team past, present or future you need to show up big time on Thursday. I am aware I am preaching to the choir right now but I don't care. If I get one more butt in a seat (or simply standing above one) it is worth it. As always, thank you for your support of the team.

To solve the TV vs. ticket dilemma, I turn on the tv to whatever station DC will be on before I leave. If I can find a blank tape somewhere, I'll tape it. If not, it's just another tv to help ratings on DC/MLS games.

unfortunately the only way to help ratings is if you are a Neilsen family and have a box or survey that they count towards the ratings. I will be there and bringing at least 2 friends, my DC flag and my loudest screaming voice.

Bringing two newbies.
As for the atmosphere on Saturday, I felt that having the rain push everybody up in a tight mass under the upper deck (and upping the adrenaline in the supporters' sections!) made the atmosphere actually better. There was a group dynamic that isn't there when fans are scattered. Quiet people got excited. If we ever get a soccer-specific stadium, I think it's going to be electric.

My family will be there.
I could have also taken my U-7 team after being invited to parcitipate in the halftime game (against our Club's perennial rivals no less!), but I was only given two hours to respond and could only get commitments from 5 players. We may wind up taking a few of them anyway.
In future games, they should do more halftime games for youth soccer.
I know if I have been given more time, I could have easily gotten my whole team to show up.
I think that part of the atmoshere at Saturday's game can be attributed to the Youth Soccer teams presence. I know when it rained quite a few were coming down to the Barra Brava section (mostly teenagers) and actively participating.

Actually, I'm at school now. But I left home after giving them strict instructions to leave the tv on during every soccer game on ESPN.:)

I will be there in La Norte, with my voice, my family, and bugle in tow (i need a little practice). I will need beer (lots a beer during the game) or else my voice will last only 2 minutes. (it is usually gone inside of 5 minutes of the initial kick off)
