A religious, less-talented rip off of Pearl Jam - musically. Lyrically I am not so sure. They're lyrics aren't even close enough in quality to tell if they're trying to rip off Pearl Jeam or not.

Someone out there must agree with me.

I don't see any similarites between the two. Creed is still making good songs. Pearl Jam hasn't made any good songs or had a hit in 4 years. Creed's guitar player is more talented than the 2 Pearl Jam guitar players combined. Those two jokers couldn't play "Master of Puppets". Creed is doing the kind of music that Pea Jam should be doing right now. All Pearl Jam does now is boring, dull, mellow crap.

At least they're not slipknot.

Creed is an example of all that is wrong with the music industry.

You must be confusing them with nsync.

oh. my. god.

this is where i would start up a few page rant about how you are 100% totally completely tried and turn kid tested mother approved WRONG!!!!

but i think ill leafve that up to keevo, jmeissen and the gang.

But will ask this:

So the good-ness of a band is determined by the number of hits they have?

Besides, the Creed guitar player is really nothing special.

Nope. I'm including them with nsync. Same problem, different genre.

This thread is devoid of the word "suck". That has to change.

I don't know. I seem to remember defending Creed in another thread a while ago. I don't own any Creed CDs and don't consider myself a fan, but at least they write their own music (I think). Their songs are pleasant enough and relatively catchy. If forced to choose, I think I'd choose Creed over the ubiquitous baggy-panted, goateed, dreadlocked rap/metal bands.

Not to say they aren't arrogant, hypocritical and bombastic. But their songs are okay IMO. They're probably overrated, but I think calling them awful is a little bit harsh.

I'm not sure there are any Creed fans here to respond to your question. Here's one for you, though: how do you define good-ness (or better yet, let's say "quality")? Music is completely subjective. I don't see what basis you can use to determine that Pearl Jam is better than Creed or vice versa.

i actually agree with this. there is none. People will ike what they like, and peoles intrests are so freaking diverse that its impossible to tell which band is better than another based on popularity.

There really is no universal system to determine wheather aband is good or not.

Hits don't work, becasue theres lots of great bands who havent ever had a hit.

I guess the closest you can come to measuring a good band against a bad one is if/how many bands/styles of music has it influenced.

Pearl jam Influenced pretty much the entire genre of alternative music.

Creed hasnt really influenced much of anyhting.
Howver, oddly enough...Creed is obviously influenced By pearl jam.

However, by that rational, that means not new bands are good becasue they havent really been around long enough to influence everybody.

So that lends itself to saying taht the older a band is, then the better it is, and i dont even need to explain why that is wrong.

So i guess the only way to determine what is a good band and what is not is your own personal opinion, and if you need the music media or toher peole to tell you taht you are right in order to feel right, then you really dont like that band that much.

That might be the longest response ive ever written.

Absolutely not but everyone acts like PearlJam is still a relavent band but they are more like a cult band right now. They have their diehard followers thats it they are no longer mainstream.

He can play Slayer songs, Anthrax songs, 80's Metallica songs. Can any Pearl Jam members play songs that are that fast I doubt it.

Slayer, Anthrax and Metallica are your benchmark? That's not setting the bar very high is it?

If you can name me a Creed song with some impressive guitar work, I'll be glad to download it and pass judgement. ;)

Granted, the PJ guys aren't exactly virtuosos, but I've heard more intricate playing from them than from the Creed guy.
