Lampard is the key player on this side. That's a given. As for defense, Terry would be the MVP, but I've always thought that Gallas is a better defender. More versatile, and faster.

Terry is the captain and is the heart of the team, but Lampard is the key player, I just wish he had his shooting boots on this season (early days)

10 games in and we're looking for an MVP eh?

My vote goes to the head groundkeeper - pitch looks great dunnit?

As for players - we're 10 games in.......

All I know is in the past few games when Damien's been in the team, we've looked far more potent on the attack. His spot-on delivery really gives us another dimension. Without him, we're straight up the middle through Lamps, Cole, or Drogba on every attack, but having Duff out on the left makes us far less predictable.

totally agree with you, about duffers. i think gallas is our defensive mvp thanks to his versatility in starting at leftback twice now due to injuries.

it's hard to pick only 10 games into the season. From what I've seen, Makelele is crucial. He gives the rest of the midfield a chance to go forward, and he is one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe

Where has Arjen been??? When he comes back, he'll defintly add another dimension to your attack..

I think he's a possibility for this weekends game against City. I thought I saw that somewhere. God I hope so.

I agree with ClanBlue, you can't really pick an "MVP". It's only 10 games. If you HAD to pick someone (say pick someone because a gun is to you head and you dog is about to get violated). I would have to pick Cech. He's let in one goal all year and that save against Robbie Keane in the f'n Spurs game was amazing.

Hopefully it will be a lot sooner then that! He has been in training for a few weeks now although he did have a slight setback.

From the official site on Monday:

Arjen Robben
The broken bone in his foot has healed excellently and it is now 10 weeks since the injury. The delay has been in building up the ligaments around the injury. (11/10/04)

The thing is with Chelsea and Lampard this year is that he isn't playing the same position as last year. This year he's in more of a holding role and isn't free to always get involved in the attack. The position he plays for England is very much the position he played last year for Ranieri. Joe Cole (even though he plays on the R) is playing Lampard's free role. Cole is all over and never on the right, much like Deco for Porto last year. But I (and I am sure everyone else will agree) Lamps is amazing. I just hope he is able to keep his England spot when Gerrard comes back. It would be a shame to see him on the bench like Terry. Rio should have to earn his spot back I think. I'm not saying JT is better, but Rio shouldn't just step into the starting role again. (Same goes for Beckham and Owen but that's for another thread.)

Was that tongue in cheek? Would you really select Gallas for MVP???

I rate Campbell as the my centerback in England. I think Rio is good but Sol is the best. He's so solid in all areas.

Plus he's a leader (same with Terry), people who miss drug tests aren't. That's not something a leader does.

I rate Sol high, he is a fixture on the team who comes up big in importent matches, and prefer Terry to Rio because I am biased and because he has a better head in both boxes as well as on his shoulders, and makes up for any difference in pace between the two with smarts, form and anticipation.

Lamp has scored 6 goals in the last nine England matches, and been the most consistent performer. He is now a fixture on the team, and potential future captain, in my estimation; it is Butt or Bridge, or left mf flavor of the month that will be left out when Gerrard is healthy [add] or under a three striker 4-3-3, Posh, Gerrard and Lamp are almost certain locks.
