if the team wins these next 2 games theyre automatically in the next round. after these two games how many more do they have left for this round? im wanting to know cuz if they do win, and they can "blow off" the next game(s)
might we see some of the younger players actually get some time?
like gaven, johnson, gooch, buddle etc?
if we dont really have to worry bout the last game(s) then why dont we le them get some good PT?

If the U.S. were to clinch advancing from the round on Oct. 13, they would have one (meaningless) match remaining in the semifinal round - Nov. 17 vs. Jamaica in Columbus.

You would probably see a squad with almost all MLS players, and also minus the two teams that are in the MLS Cup, since the Jamaica game takes place between the semifinals and the cup.

Are they not assured of making the hex with just a single tie in the next two games?

The Jamaica game takes place after MLS Cup.

it would probly be a squad that resembles the last match against mexico. maybe with a few of the younger euros, and im pretty sure dmb would get some rest.
this is the first time ive followed our team through qualifying, can anyone explain, or point me in the next direction of how the "hex" works? thanks

FIFA's World Cup Site - CONCACAF Qualifying:
http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/t/zone/ncc.html
CONCACAF's site:
http://www.concacaf.com/
Primer:
CONCACAF was awarded 3 1/2 slots in Germany 2006. - The fourth place team playing a home/home series against a team from another confederation.
CONCACAF is divided into 3 zones:
1. North American Zone: Canada, United States, Mexico
2. UNCAF (Central America)
3. Caribbean Zone (includes 3 countries in South America).
There are 37 members of CONCACAF. 35 of which are also full members of FIFA and eligible to play in the World Cup (the other two Martinique, and I think French Guyana are technically part of France).
Puerto Rico elected not to participate in the WC2006 tournament, leaving 34 nations.
It was decided to create 12 first round groups - 10 groups of 3 and 2 groups of 2 - that would each play a double round robin league system - with the 12 group winners advancing to the semifinal round of qualifying.
After some of the bigger nations (read: Mexico and the United States) complained about having to play 4 games against negligible competition, the format was changed such that while the 12 groups were retained, they became "cup" (or knockout style) groups with the 12 seeded teams playing 1 set of home/away games against the winner of the other two teams.
In other words, instead of playing 4 first round games against Guyana and Grenada, the United States got to sit out while Grenada and Guyana played eachother for the right to advance and face the United States.
The 12 surviving teams were organized into the 3 groups of 4 teams that are playing double round-robin "leagues" right now.
The first and second place teams from each group will advance to next year's final round of CONCACAF Qualifying, known as the "hexagonal". Each of the 6 teams will play 10 games as the hex is a double round-robin league. The top 3 teams will automatically qualify for Germany 2006.

If Panama loses to the USA and Jamaica beats El Salvador Panama wouldn't be too happy with the above scenario
