There is some buzz going around that FSW will become a soccer only channel.

I say no since I enjoy watching rugby and Aussie Rules.

What does everyone else think?

I wouldn't mind if they drop rugby or Aussie rules. But I hope don't show really stupid things like they did a couple of times. I remember them showing dominos, squash and darts.

I turned it on one time to check out the Gaelic Games and see what they were like but they had on motorcycle racing instead. SOmetimes I wonder what the hell the programming people do all day.

No. Having Aussie Rules Football and International Rugby bring some good balance to the channel.

Plus.... How else would I follw my Collingwood Magpies? And the ocassional USA Eagles Rugby test match.

I'm the lone person (so far) that said that I ONLY watch FSW for Rugby & Aussie Rules. I can't stand Soccer (I swear I've really tried to get into it, but I can't stop daydreaming and thinking of other stuff within 15 minutes).

I will definately cancel the channel if there is no Rugby or Aussie Rules Football. I loved all the Essendon Bomber matches (Aussie Rules) on this year, as well as the Super 12 and International summer matches (Rugby).

I wish they'd carry things like Hurling and Gaelic football on FSW. FSW should be a complete International Sports channel covering all the sports which are popular elsewhere, but not in North America. Before subscribing to Fox Sports World less than 2 years ago I had never seen a Rugby or Aussie Rules match. I only got FSW at first as part of my free one month trial with Digital Cable and I was exposed to both sports. I now watch them religiously every week. Rugby and Aussie Rules are now my favorite sports to watch on TV.

So why exactly are you a registered member at Bigsoccer again?

Bigrugby.com's servers were too busy because of the big match. Please try again in a few minutes!

I voted on wanting soccer only, but if they did not take everything away, I would not be disappointed.

Soccer only.

And futbol only on Fox Sports en Espanol. They don't need to show baseball playoffs on it. They can have an SAP on the regular FOX station. And forget about the motor racing.

Great idea in theory, but Fox Sports World doesn't have enough soccer programming to fill its schedule now as it is.

This weekend's schedule, according to their web site, has FSW showing all the same games they showed last weekend because of the international matches.

It would be unwise for FSW to go soccer only until they acquire the rights to a few more leagues and are able to show a greater variety of matches. Right now, they can't do that because Gol TV holds La Liga and Serie A rights for at least the rest of this season. Showing 1 MLS game and 1 USL game a week isn't going to get the job done. They're down to 1 Bundesliga game a week because they can't sell advertising for it, supposedly. They had the Dutch rights, and gave them up. The Scottish rights are tied up by PPV. They show 2 Brazilian matches a week at the most, and 1 from Argentina. What else are they supposed to show - the Ryman League?

You guys can have FSW be all soccer soon if you want, but instead of seeing the same game 4 times a week, you're going to see it 7 because they'll have nothing else to show. FSW needs a wider soccer programming base before they can make this happen successfully.

I mean, think about it. There's a reason why the only ads you ever see on FSW revolve around the Relacore chick, the Leptoprin babe, the Army guys chasing the terrorists, Bowflex and I, Max. And it ain't because the folks in sales are doing a bang-up job.

And forget about the motor racing.
Champcar racing on FSE has a loyal following, and makes good ad money.

If FSW was going to be really America's Soccer Channel and, if not soccer-only, soccer-way-more-than-it-is, like Ed says, they're going to need more programming.

It would be great if they could show more USL and lower-level Nats games (I saw the U20s on there once, I think - that was cool) and more MISL and maybe some college.

Problem with the USL and MISL is those teams have to pay the freight to get a game broadcast produced, and they're not exactly swimming in cash. And between CSTV and now ESPNU, there's actually competition to carry college soccer.

It would be outstanding if they had a nightly soccer news/highlights show like the Golf Channel's golf show.

But it all comes down to money. And it's not like people are beating down the doors to advertise on an all-soccer network.

Did the Tennis Channel ever launch?

Don't become soccer only. Get as wide a mix of international sports as possible. Hell, if that means you show Japanese baseball weekday mornings... good.

The only reason FSW stayed on my cable system was because of the 60 guys on my town's two rugby teams. There are no men's soccer teams here, and I suspect that I and maybe two or three other people at most watch soccer. When FSW was threatened with disappearance, my fellow ruggers phoned, wrote, and Emailed and saved FSW.

In short, by desiring programming that appeals only to soccer fans (which you might have noticed is not exactly a large portion of the US population), you might actually be wishing for FSW's decreased profitablility and availability.

I would love to see Japanese baseball on FSW.

I've always wanted to go there and see a game.
