I can't believe there isn't a thread for the fantastic blanquiazul so I'm starting it.

My computer crashed a while back so I had to drop out of the predictions league since I missed two weeks, but I have a prediction for the derby in Barcelona coming up...Espanyol 3 - Barcelona 1.

You shouldn't drop out of the prediction league. Jlo started in the middle of last season and finished in the top 5. It's more a battle of attrition, and two weeks isn't an insurmountable obstacle.

Good luck on getting the Espanyol thread going. Quango

good call, I think I'll return and make the prediction league mine within a few weeks.

So Ito has said it...“Podemos ser favoritos ante el Barcelona” that's Castillian not Catalan...You hear that? Victory. I love the sound of Castillian in the morning.

"We should be the favorites against Barcelona" - Ito must be reading my mind.

Maxi will score one goal.
De la Pena will score one goal.
And of course, Tamudo will score the other.

And the majority of Barcelona will go home crying because after 100 years, Espanyol has finally awaken.

Lotina has brought up some younger players to the first squad in the last two weeks- Coro and Minambres.

Don't know if they'll get in against Barca, but I can't wait to see them play after all the stuff I've been hearing about them.

they would head home with their tales between their legs just like those madrilenos from a while back :D

Exactly. That was a great game - Kameni blocked the penalty kick and even though Tamudo missed his two chances it was great watching Real Madrid lose.

Now with the game on Gol TV this saturday, I can watch Espanyol win again!

The derby is almost here. Dani is down but I think Espanyol will do fine without him.

Maybe one of the new guys will get a chance to come into the game after Espanyol is up a few goals and get some playing time.

Please, all you Espanyol fans out there, stop posting on this thread because I enjoy having conversations with myself.

After defeating Barca, Espanyol will make a move for the Champions League.

I think Espanyol needs to try to pick up a star over the transfer period during the break -maybe a midfielder or another great defender- so they can finish in the top two with Valencia.

Yes, I know you've been dying to ask it so I'll answer it...Tamudo will score this weekend against Levante.

It's been a while since he's scored and he's due.

If you watched the Barca game last week, he missed one terribly but didn't get many chances because Serrano or anyone out on the wing wouldn't get the pass back to De La Pena - they'd try to go on a run while de la pena was wide open in the middle and Barca would come and snatch the ball from them

Levante is a tough team for being in its first year back from the segunda but Espanyol needs the win.

Espanyooooooooooooooooooooool!!!!!!!

ok, Tamudo didn't score but he got an assist and Espanyol wins a big game to put them back in the top 4 - we'll see what happens with Barca later.

Don't know why De la Pena didn't play.

tamudo will be out for 6 weeks! that is horrible. Maybe Coro will shine in a while...until then, Lotina says Dani will take Tamudo's spot.

well the long lost brother of Carlos Tevez scored two more goals today as Espanyol won 2-0.

The city of Barcelona is proving to the world that you don't have to be pretty to play soccer well...Ronaldinho and Maxi must be scaring the opposition this year.

Espanyol won without Tamudo or De la Pena...Lotina is a god(unless of course your live in Vigo)

I sure hope so. Espanyol has been playing very well considering that Tamudo has been out. I just wish that Lotina would start De la Pena because they play much better with him in the line up.

Lotina put him in late against Racing, and he set up Maxi's penalty kick. I thought for sure De la Pena would start against Sevilla but no, and they lose.

maybe next week...

I think that Espanyol needs to go out and get someone in January... Lotina said he doesn't think he needs to get anyone but I'd like to see Espanyol go get a offensive mid - maybe Aimar should leave Valencia :) .

Espanyol in the Champions...I think they can.

i don´t dislike putting in De La Penya late. Alex is the more solid defensive player, what i think is the better way to start - security in defensive and control of the ball. Substituting him during the game for de la penya changes the whole midfield concept for the opponent, and IMO gives Lo Pelat more opportunities as, when all players are tired, risky passes do much more harm.

i agree that Espanyol should get an offensive midfield player - one who controls the ball and can initiate the whole offensive play. In that way Espanyol would gain a lot of flexibility. Aimar? I'd love to see him playing for Espanyol. :-) What about Pirlo, Totti, Micoud,....?:-)

anyway, now Soldevila and Jarque have to prove that Espanyol doesn´t depend on Lopo and Pochettino in defense. Let´s see. In preseason, Soldevila played very well and Jarque knows Torres well from Sub-19 and -21 teams.

maybe I just like watching De la Pena play too much... I wish Lotina could find a place for him to play where he could be risky the whole game

I like Totti and Pirlo but I don't watch enough german games to know about micoud... In Spain, I also like Yeste. Wonder if Espanyol is willing to go out and spend big bucks for a new player..

Do you think Espanyol is just bs-ing right now about not wanting to go out and get anymore players in January? If they keep up the good play, I would think they'd do it to put them over the top and take La Liga from Barca and Real Madrid.

Can't wait to see if Espanyol's on Gol tv this week- they're on every channel I don't get...

Espanyol can definitely win against a. madrid -

Is Kameni a goalie god or what? Against Real Madrid he stopped a pk and I was amazed and now he's doing it all the time. I'd hate to be Lemmens...he's gonna be sitting for a long time.

concerning the "plantilla", i just know that they've already started to plan next season´s squad, that Sanchez Llibre said that he wouldn´t object to spend some money on a new player during this season and that some players (Mińambres, Lemmens) have already started to complaint about their situation. In the club environment they have already put pressure on the club to get some reinforcement for midfield.

i´d say that if espanyol keeps up at UEFA-cup-place by end of december they will get a new player during winter, but without spending a lot of money - somebody solid, proved without big merits similar to the Ito-deal or some former espanyol player like quique de lucas, sergio, capdevila,... there are a lot of good players out who do not play regularly and would love to get a chance in Primera Division.

Cristóbal, the technical director, is good for surprises and i am sure that he´s already selected potential new players. But everything depends on Lotina and i think that unless somebody leaves the club, he won´t argue in favor of getting a new player.

In all cases, Espanyol will at best fight for UEFA-cup-place. They won´t dare to express their objective to be a CL-place. And less trying to win a league, which is due to some past experiences: in the late 60's Espanyol tried to occupy a place among the "big" clubes in Spain, investing heavily in new players - they finished one season 3rd and went nearly bankrupt the next year. In fact, without the help of other clubs, Espanyol would have gone bankrupt in 1970.

kameni is a god!!! and the greatest is that he rejected an offer from ManUtd to play at Espanyol. Everybody´s already saying that he´ll be one of the best goalies in the world.

Against Atletico i find it hard to believe that they´ll win, but i neither expected them to win against Levante and La Real Sociedad. So, sounds like a victory to me :-)

Espanyol wins!!!!!!! It was a great game. Dani got two goals, one from a fabulous pass from De la Pena.

Only goal on Kameni was a perfectly placed free kick from Nano.

I was really glad to see De la Pena play so great. I think he lost one ball the whole game and he made some great passes all night. Serrano played pretty good too- had a couple of great crosses.

I'm getting excited about the future...

Tamudo is back!!!!! He probably will only play a little this weekend but he's back...and what does that mean for Zaragoza? Do we have to? It's sounds so corny. Yeah, come on now, what does that mean for Zaragoza? Bad News for Zaragoza!

the club officially is saying they are aiming to get in the UEFA...so I will keep aiming them for the Champions, just in case.

Tamudo scores a fantastic goal and De la Pena and Dani controlled the game as Espanyol is making a run for the top.

On the other side of town at barca, there is talk of my all-time favorite player, Gabriel Batistuta, coming to play at Barca...don't really want him to score goals for Barca but I guess it's better that playing in Qatar...maybe.

Next week, Espanyol v. Mallorca...bad news for Mallorca.
