Chris is a little reluctant to throw his hat in the ring, but he is thinking about it.
I think he'd make an excellent national team coach, let's hear your support for him so he knows we're behind him all the way.

Voting begins on Sunday at midnight or so.
My candidate speech is as follows:
My name is Helghallen and I am running for US National Coach. I am the coach of Dynamo KC in Missouri. I spend a great deal of my day on Hattrick and would have a tremendous amount of time to devote to the running of the team.
I have written a primer on scouting opponents, which can be found here. [link=http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/helghallen/Scouting.htm].
I am a member of the KC Metro Hattricker’s Fed, NKOTB and Bottom Division Federation and am active in them. I am moderator on the Hattrick Forum at Big Soccer and am frequently found there as well.
I feel I could do an excellent job of scouting an opponent and would certainly be willing to listen to advice from the masses as to what to do.
My general philosophy in managing the national team would be to use the advantage we have of a strong midfield. Even with the changes made by the HT’s to lessen the importance of it, midfield is still a major factor in the game. This was evidenced by the latest round of games.
I would generally use a formation that emphasized a three inner mid formation. I am a firm believer in playing to our strengths. That would mean gaining possession and allowing our forwards to finish off the chances earned.
I use 3-5-2 with a WTM and the other offensive. Generally I would use a symmetrical back line, but this could certainly change if I find some weakness I can exploit. And yes, a very boring formation, but there is a reason many teams throughout the Hattrick world use it: It works.
An adjunct to the above formation is a 3-4-3 with an offensive winger. This would be a formation to use to exploit an obvious defensive weakness and or if it were necessary to get an advantage in goal differential.
I will steer clear of “odd” formations. I don’t think the confusion that inevitably results is worth the surprise that comes from springing them on an opponent.
TS was a huge factor in the performance of the US in the past World Cup. Effective management of team spirit is necessary to achieve greatness in the World Cup as evidenced by Norway recently. This also goes along with the power of the US midfield. We could effectively PIC in some games and still control possession. Storing of TS would be necessary to advance to later rounds and pose a threat to medal.
Feel free to post any questions or if you’d like further clarification of any of the above.

Chris_Caron posted this on the conference:
When the actual voting begins anyone can nominate anyone in the voting. So if you were to run when the polls opened you would go to the election screen and when prompted to enter a managers name you would type trendonite in. After 24 hours the top 10 managers in the voting will be alphabetically listed and they will be able to post a short speech on the election screen...though many people don't do this or invite voters to visit their election thread in the USA conference.
The election page will usually be linked from the USA Conference or is available under the USA link on the HT front page. This will lead to a page showing the current happenings in the USA along with an elections link.

I'll vote for you if you want, but why would anyone subject themselves to the stress and strain? Far too many people take the job far too seriously, and it always gets ugly. I play Hattrick to avoid stress and strain, if at all possible.

I seriously doubt I'll win this time around or ever. I think it would be something that will make me a better manager. I have a thick skin (I work in the construction industry). I may regret this decision if I do get the position, but if I don't try it will be something I'll regret.
Thank you everyone for your support so far. The election threads have been looked until the 10th. I'll start pushing again starting Sunday.

Small request from all of you that have supporter and feel inclined to do so. If you could mention my candidacy in your signature on hattrick, I would greatly appreciate it.
