I don't see why the discussion can't be going on now, but I will bow to the masses and be quiet till sunday. Nothing says we can't campaign, just not in the USA conference.

I stole Mark's post in his conference and put it in my series conference (almost word for word) to pimp votes for you.

Sweet. You have no idea how much the outpouring of support means to me.
Is there anything you would like to know about my candidacy, since I can't campaign on the conferences till Sunday.

I thought he did an average job. He was obviously hamstrung by form and injury issues, and he made a few Team Spirit mistakes whihc sunk the WC for us, but on the whole he did ok.As I recall, we also got no love from the match engine whatsoever.

Goal one is complete. I am in the top 10. I will be putting up an election speech later today and hopefully drawing in some more votes. To everyone who voted yesterday (the hard way I may add), thank you.

Rough draft of election speech. Let me know your thoughts.
My name is Helghallen and I am running for US National Coach. I am the coach of Dynamo KC in Missouri. I spend a great deal of my day on Hattrick and would have a tremendous amount of time to devote to the running of the team.
I am a member of the KC Metro Hattricker’s Fed, NKOTB and Bottom Division Federation and am active in them. I am moderator on the Hattrick Forum at Big Soccer and am frequently found there as well answering questions, helping new players and recruiting new players.
The more players the US has the better our chances of doing well.
As such, the national team coach should try to recruit new players to the game (something I would do anyway).
I feel I could do an excellent job of scouting an opponent and would certainly be willing to listen to advice from the masses as to what to do. I have written a primer on scouting opponents, which can be found here. http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/helghallen/Scouting.html.
My general philosophy in managing the national team would be to use the advantage we have of a strong midfield. Even with the changes made by the HT’s to lessen the importance of it, midfield is still a major factor in the game. This was evidenced by the latest round of games.
I would generally use a formation that emphasized a three inner mid formation. I am a firm believer in playing to our strengths. That would mean gaining possession and allowing our forwards to finish off the chances earned.
I use 3-5-2 with a WTM and the other offensive in my league games. Generally I would use a symmetrical back line, but this could certainly change if I find some weakness I can exploit. And yes, a very boring formation, but there is a reason many teams throughout the Hattrick world use it: It works.
An adjunct to the above formation is a 3-4-3 with three inner midfielders and an offensive winger. This would be a formation to use to exploit an obvious defensive weakness and or if it were necessary to get an advantage in goal differential. The sheer offensive firepower that would be amassed by this formation would be a tremendous asset, especially considering the quality forwards the US has currently.
I will steer clear of “odd” formations. I don’t think the confusion that inevitably results is worth the surprise that comes from springing them on an opponent.
High level players are of tremendous importance to the US efforts in the World Cup. This means players would need to be trained to divine+ levels of skill. The drawback to the teams training them is the consequently high wages that result from these incredible skill levels. I would do my best to make sure US players are trained continuously and would encourage the training of secondary skills since this will make the player more valuable to the national team and will give the training team a subsequent reduction in the wages paid to the player.
TS was a huge factor in the performance of the US in the past World Cup. Effective management of team spirit is necessary to achieve greatness in the World Cup as evidenced by Norway recently. This also goes along with the power of the US midfield. We could effectively PIC in some games and still control possession. Storing of TS would be necessary to advance to later rounds and pose a threat to medal.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for your vote.

thats a solid speech. There seems to be some groups that won't vote for a coach as far down at DV, maybe include something about how you compensate for that...
I already voted for you as well...wish there was a running tally to see where you stand..

It seems to me and some of the other people who are playing, that it takes about 2-3 seasons to gain the knowledge you need to compete successfully.
And yes, there are people who feel that way. Even some people who should probably no better. Oh well. If don't win this time, maybe I'll be in IV for the next election :)
