May be too early to start this nonsense, but I would be ok with that deal, after all it ain't my money.

I'd do it in a heartbeat but it ain't gonna happen. Also the Parker on his way out stories are heating up. Everton and Spuds in the lead apparently. I can see us loaning him to Everton for the second half.

I'm not as high on Torres as some others are. When confronted with decent defenders in Portugal he couldn't muster much. That, and he's not ideally suited to a 4-3-3. He'd have to grow into the English game, and you never know how that will work out.
If we're going to spend this much money on a young striker, why didn't we just go with Rooney? I would rather have Torres than Mutu, yeah, but how many times can you "upgrade", ya know?

I've said it quite a few times on here during this past summer that Mutu is finished at Chelsea.
Some of you thought i was bonkers........

Honestly his personality was never going to mesh with Mourinho if the stories leaking out of the dressing room last season are to be believed. Mutu will be lucky to see any time on the pitch before the transfer window. In fact if he keeps this up I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the Bogarde treatment from JM. It seems foolish to sell him in January without having Forssell to recall. It might be better for JM to look to bring in a young 4th striker - someone who hopefully won't be upset about not getting much first team action.

Ya, Mutu seems to be doing his part to stir the pot.

But the Bogarde treatment? Are you implying that Winston had the talent to play? :)

I would never take such an indefensible position. But making Mutu train with the youth squad until his attitude improves might not be the worst idea.

Can't we recall Carlton Cole from Villa? I thought it was a loan till January that could be renewed if we decided to. I'm not sure on the details, but it might not be a bad idea.

I think those were the deals of Forssell's loan but I thought Cole's was a season-long deal with no recall option.

Having someone sulking and whineing around training hurts the whole team so....
Question, is Cole locked into a loan for the whole year, or can he return in January, he seems to fit in to a Drogba back-up role, and should be able to understand he will not be first choice, but players do get hurt unfortunatly, so he will get some time and a chance to earn his way back for the long haul.
With Robben soon to be back, a 4-3-3, Cole, Duff and Kez, who I think will breakout soon, we will be fine without Mutu, if we can not land a striker that JM really wants in Jan.

Mutu hits out at Mourinho (http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news;_ylc=X3oDMTBpYjk0aWtjBF9TAzk1ODYzNTkwBHNlYwN0aA--?slug=afp-fbl_eng_pr_wc2006_rom&prov=afp&type=lgns)
He must be pinin' for a loan deal. I say send him to Milwall and see how he likes it. Wise'll teach him a thing or two.
I also love his reasoning in the article - "I say I'm fit, and he shows me the team doctor not, but I know I'm fit". Oh, OK. That'll make the coach love you.

Torres is the real deal. True his performance in Portugal was a little sub-par, but then again he plays for the Spanish national team, no? Underachieving is par for the course on that team :)

That, and their left back was Raul Bravo. And with Raul in such fine form.....blech.
I think Torres is a good player, I'd just be a bit leery of buying the next big thing every few years.
However, it seems more and more likely Mutu's time is up. He hasn't played well enough to justify the headache.

Did anybody tell Mutu he doesn't have to talk to the press? What an idiot and here's why: he was almost certain to not only be in the team, but also starting after the international break. Now? Who knows. I just can't believe the timing of his outburst, other than to assume that he wants to leave Chelsea whether he's playing (which he would have been) or not.
A sports psychologist would have a field day with this one.

he's been called up but has already said he's not fit, he can't even run yet. he'll drop out of the Dutch WCQs soon if he hasn't already.
so neither.

Whatever, now we only have six players competing for three forward spots. No fly-ins necessary, in my opinion.
