I must say to all the people that you would hear bashing Houlier last year it sure has worked out well by getting rid of Houlier. Liverpool has sure had a sucessful season so far with there current 11th place standing in the table I guess all of us Liverpool fans should be so proud of the job Benitez has done. Considering that Liverpool might finish 8th this year if everything goes right and I believe when Houiler was at Liverpool they were always qualifying for either the Champions League or UEFA cup at least with the great job Benitez is doing Liverpool players will be at least rested next year for the Premier League season. Plus how about how aparently some things in the press seem to indicate Benitez almost begging for Michael Owen to come back to Liverpool. I am sure Houlier would not be doing that. Of course probably would not have to because he probably would have been able to keep Owen at Liverpool.

Facts are the reason Liverpool qualified for the Champions League last year was a lot to do with the job Houlier did late in the season and how he got the players motivated. Also all of the people who complained about Liverpool finishing fourth in the Premiership how many people with any type of brian or logic really thought anyone but Machester United, Chelsea or Arsenal would win the title last year. This was a lot like teams in the late 90's in American Baseball firing managers because they would only make the playoffs and could not beat the Yankees and then the teams wind up not even being close to the playoffs.

Granted Benitez did a great job at Valencia and he obviously has a proven track record but thought based on the job Houlier did and Renier at Chelsea did they both got the shaft. Although I could care less about Chelsea although my two favorite premier league teams are Liverpool and whoever is playing Chelsea.

Who the fcuk are you to come in here and start bashing Benitez. Do you not realize that we have 4 players that we picked up over the summer, in the starting 11. And we have a new manager!!!! How many people do we have to tell this, it takes time to make an impact on a team. You can't expect us to just suddenly be competing with arsenal week in and week out. So next time before you start another post like this one, i want you to stop, take a deep breath and pull your head out of your a**.

Hell hath no fury... Look, we don't know why or what Benitez did to break your heart, but take it up in counseling, and not on this board.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. This guy is just giving you guys his opinions. He's a liverpool fan but that doesn't mean he has to support every member of the squad, staff and so forth. And he didn't bash Benitez at all, on the contrary, he commended him even. Stop all this nonesense and just be more open to people's opinions and criticisms. I don't prefer Benitez or Houllier, it doesn't matter who you support frankly, but everyone's entitled to his opinions and this is a board for just that.

I don't see anything anywhere or on any posts that either of you are Liverpools fans. All you want to do is piss and moan.

While you never walk alone had some insults at least he had a counter argument and had some good points. I find it interesting whether it is politics sports or whatever in discussion the people who have no counter argument or who are not smart enough to have a counter argument all they can do is make insults.

Also is it just me or does Fox Sports World think Manchester United and Real Madrid are the only teams in the World

You make some good points but was not that why a lot of Liverpool fans wanted Houlier fired because they were not competing with Arsenal week in and week out or even Manchester United and Chelsea. Thus if a change had to be made would want to see some results and see the team going backwards instead of forward. Myabe it will work out in the long run and said before Benitez does have a proven track record but still think Houlier got shafted.

You have to admit a lot of the problem here is your attitude. No one knows you or which team you're affiliated with. Or what country or city you're from. As far as anyone knows you're just a sock puppet trolling to get attention. Perhaps you should have read Matt Clark's thread for newbies.
http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=132087

Whatever your motive your first post (that I know of) came as a diatribe suggesting that all here wanted Houlier out. Not in so many words but it's insinuated. You won't find any comments from me or the long term posters here that did call for GH's head. Having said that, GH is history and Benitez is in charge and most of us here know that building a new team may take some time. Our present position in the league is admittedly lousey but I believe that we'll be in a lot better place on the run in at the end of it. We'll support the manager and give him the time he need. Benitez has 8 league games under his belt with us and you're already starting to piss and moan .

One of your most asinine statements was how the press think Benitez is begging MO to return. You have to be a ********ing idiot to even suggest that, that is even a possibility. And a moron if you believe even half of what the tabloid media says is remotely near the truth.

You certainly seem to have a high opinion of yourself and your thoughts on what's going on at Liverpool and really anxious to impart you brilliance to us without bothering to find out how we felt. Opinions on MO's form and his wanting to chase a bit of glory have all been expressed in these boards and a bit of simple searching on how we felt about GH and MO would have saved you from making a fool of yourself.

Like I said, I don't know what team you support, not until the last line of your carping did you even mention that you cared for Liverpool at all. Having said that, welcome to the board. It'll be a pleasure having you pontificate each week, the nuances of Liverpool and the sport of football. None of us knew what was going on until you pointed it out for us.

It'll be nice having you point out all these things to us as the season goes on.

I second the suggestion that the Newbie's thread should be your first destination.

With regard to the more general complaint about people's opinions not being respected ... I don't know what to say. It should be copiously obvious that opinions, just like everything else in life, do not come with pre-ordained respect. They have to earn it. And as starting lines go, the premise of this thread was not a great beginning.

Baseline rationale for this and every other thread started here: we're 7 games into the season. WE have a new manager, new players, new backroom staff, new tactics, new practices, approaches and attitudes. It is worse than pointless to start constructing all sorts of long-winded, overblown conclusions about a situation that has not even reached the end of it's beginning yet.

Threads and/or posts that nonetheless attempts to float such pointless diatribes will be dealt with accordingly. Posts that witlessly criticise players or the manager will, at this embrionic stage of their contribution to the club's fortunes, also be given short thrift. Don't whine about it, think about it. And then alter your perspective and your posts accordingly.

Reading all the threads in here, it sounds like we have a room full of coaches that could do better than both Houlier and Benitez.

We all have our critics and we all have our fans, it is not an easy job to do, turst me I have coached at the semi-pro level and now work at both the college and youth level.

I am bewildered by some of the decisions Benitez has made but I was also confussed by some that Houlier made. Only time will tell if the Spanish side of this arguemnet can get it right. The question is how much time will he be given?

Give an example of one of these decisions you were "bewildered" by. How much time should he be given? He has only had 2 MONTHS with a team that finshed 30 points behind the champions last year. Did you expect us to be top of the table at this point? Our best player is injured, we are playing in a new formation, and we have 3 new signings in the starting lineup. Its going to take time, and to make judgements about Benitez at this point is silly.

I would totally have agreed with you before Sunday, but I thought playing Diao instead of Hamann, and Traore at all was odd, but I have full confidence in Rafa so I'm sure there was some sor tof reason.

Me I'd have played Didi but I don't get the big bucks, I'm just a supporter. I think Rafa gave Diao a chance and it didn't work too well. We can only hope he's learn't that Diao can't control the game like Stevie and gets a little caried away with tackles when he's being toyed with.
Maybe Didi next time out. And work on getting Steve's foot better....does he really need two.

And welcome here
