Hi,
I'm wearing a medical contact lenses because i have some problems with my eyes , the problem is that i wear them when i play soccer but i'm afraid that i may get a hit by a finger or elbow which can make me blind immediately , I'd like to know if you recommend me to wear anything to protect my eye , i searched for glasses like the one that edgar davids is using but i didn't find any place that sell them and i also don't know if they will really protect my eyes or not .

Please help me with your recommendations.

Thank you

I wear contact lenses for soccer and they are just fine. i dont think if you got hit in the eye you would go blind. your contact might fall out or something but its just as dangerous to wear glasses.

I have a friend who wore hard contacts and plays basketball at Navy. I remember poking him in the eye myself and all that happened was his contact fell out. So I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just to be safe I'd ask your eye doctor, I'm sure he would be able to give better advice than any of us.

alternativly - you could ask for some prescription sports sunnies or the like... nike, adidas, oakley etc all make frames and your optomitrist could make lenses... but contacts are fine.. but if u wanna be a bit more careful u can do the sunglasses approach..

zack im not sure about hard lenses, i wear soft lenses.

hard lenses are more of a hassle i have heard, they dont bend or anything. soft lenses feel like flimsy little pieces of plastic, they bend easily, but you have to be careful cuz they can tear. id ask our doctor about the hard lenses and the risk of using them.

why not save your money, wear your contacts, and buy some sunglasses/goggles that have clear lenses to protect your eyes?
seems more cost effective than shelling out $$$ for custom prescription lenses.

I wear hard lenses while playing soccer, and have not had any problems except for getting dust in my eyes (pretty painful) once or twice.

Hard lenses are less hassle to maintain than soft lenses and last much longer. They might be a little less comfortable, especially at first. They have a greater risk of falling out, but it has never been a problem for me.
