Monday October 18th is the United for DC Team Awards Banquet at the State Theater. Group tickets (5 people) are available for $225. La Barra has committed to one group so far--though only chico, victory and myself are on board. we'd certainly like to fill out the 5 (we'll cover it no matter) and i'd really think we could get another group of 5. if you'd like to go--contact me soon so we can get it set up.
this is a very fun event. i've been to it in the past and it is a good time. oscar and i and the "better halves" had a damn good time with esky last year. it is a really fun time.
united for dc is trying this as a way to have a bit lower cost event--the luncheon and golf tourney are a bit pricey for individuals so this event is great. part of the cost is deductible and we could all use a few of those.
anyway, i'd like to get a strong barra turnout.

Come on guys this dinner is tax deductable, only costs as much as a one really nice meal, and will be a great time. As an added bonus, having a strong barra presence there can only serve to improve our relations with the team at this critical time when it looks like we have no place to stand next year.

I'm just a Democrat, so I don't make enough to deduct anything from my taxes, but Lisa and I would probably be interested. She would miss the cocktail reception, being at work, but should be able to make it by 8:00 when it starts.
Another caveat: I don't really "dress up" :) Shirt and tie I can do, but suits are for funerals :)

And meetings with the Parole Officer. You could always rent out the powder blue tux.

I'd certainly be up for this as well. Is there enough for a second table yet?

Well, we have Rob, Jay, Scruggsy, Carlos and myself in the first table. If we have Lonnie, Lisa and you we're more than halfway there on the second. :)

Great, either Rob or myself will be in touch with everyone later in the week to verify.

When I spoke to him last week he wasn't sure. Give him a call. Let me know so I can twist his arm.

ok i spoke with catherine, she'll send me the invoice and i'll collect from y'all. give me a check please made out to united for dc.
just so you guys know, it won't be a sit down thing like in years past--its beer, wine and a buffet--no waiters, fixed tables, etc. i think that this will actually be a better format because you can mingle with a lot more folks rather than just those at the table. my guess is you'll get a lot more time with the team this way...
