I almost didn't bother with this position poll. Does it really matter which of the "big three" start?
But why not...

It was either Keller of Friedel, and Keller has had more free time lately, so Kasey it is.

Friedel was making a little run at Keller in the poll, until Arena didn't include him in the roster.
Keller seems a lock for the El Salvador road match. Arena almost has to play Howard against Panama, or why invite him along at all?

Despite no action with Tottenham this year, it hasn't stopped Arenafrom going with KK more often than not & I see no reason to think Arena will change now. There's NO way Walker will start in a road WCQ, at least not yet & Howard is struggling with his confidence right now (all of which makes me wish Big Brad had been called in).
But I'm still confident that KK will get the job done. Depending on the result v ES, Keller might start v Panama as well.

kk was in a cup match last week, so he does get to see the pitch every now and then...

So, how did a "News & Analysis" forum get overrun by POLLs? Is it no longer possible to ask a question, then discuss the alternatives?

I agree....the USA could play Nick Rimando in goal in these two games and still get the results....G K does not, to me, seem to be the problem for the USA...

I hesitated to put the four position polls in this part of the forum, since there is a polls section on Big Soccer. BUT, these polls are specific to the upcoming El Salvador match, and this is the best forum for drawing responses from knowledgable US Nat team fans.
Plus, there is nothing stopping anyone from having a discussion below the polls. The midfield poll is having a good discussion. The goalkeeper poll doesn't have as much stimulation for discussion, given the nature of the position for the US.
Meanwhile, the much longer thread that began after Arena posted his 23-man roster isn't very focussed. It becomes hard to follow a thread that grows into a double digit number of screens and covers the many different sub-topics that a US roster announcement will typically spawn.
So, anyway, I feel no guilt. The polls are on-topic and still open for discussion.
