And they're going to do it by beating Los Angeles - yet again!
Here's how I know this ...
I clicked on the View New Posts (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/search.php?s=&action=getnew) link and noticed a thread on the rivalry board titled "OFFICIAL - "Who's going to punt LA out of the playoffs this year?" thread". Well, who can resist a thread like that?
On that thread I saw this post ...

1996 dc - dc wins the Cup Final 3-2. Campos coughed up a hairball and a rebound that Pope put in for the winner in OT...oops.
1997 DAL - Underdog and lower seeded Dallas wins Game 1 in LA and kicks LA's butt all over the Cotton Bowl in a 3-0 win and a first round 2-game sweep.
1998 CHI - Once again favored LA bends over in their own house and loses to the Fire 1-0 before getting swept on the return trip to Chicago
1999 dc again - One more time in a final LA can't handle dc. This time it's Moreno and "young" Benny Olsen plant the boot in LA's backside
2000 KC - LA's inability to beat Meola or contain Miklos Molnar in both Game 3 and the mini-game decider ends LA pipe dreams. For the fifth year in a row LA has a long tearful plane flight home. At least they should be getting good at it by now.
2001 SJ - Three finals, three losses. Six playoffs, six red-eyes to LAX. This time to the previously worthless Quakes. DeRosario's OT Cup-winner doing the honors. Only LA could give birth to the desease that is "Quake-pride" Thanks loads LA.
2002 ? - Who will they submit to this year?

I was looking at that post - and looking and looking and then I saw it ...
Year ---- Team that ends LA's playoff run
1996 ---- DC
1997 ---- DA
1998 ---- CH
1999 ---- DC
2000 ---- KC
2001 ---- SJ
2002 ---- ??
Isn't it obvious? Look at the pattern. Every three years DC United defeats LA in the final.
So no worries from here on out. You can't argue with fate.
Right?
