I know there is skeptics about El Salvador contending with the US or Jamaica or even Panama, but you guys can forget about that because they will be there next round right next to the US. I was at the first game against Bermuda last month in San Salvador and even through all of the difficulties El Salvador played a solid game. Its a young team with out much experience but the opportunities were there they just werent capatalized on.
Panama, can continue palying baseball because they will be two wins for El Salvador. With Jamaica a win at home and a tie on the island. Last but not least I predict a tie at home and a loss in the USA. That calculates to 11 points for El Salvador more than enough to get in to the next round. For the US fans who dont believe that there will be a tie in San Salvador its very simple the US is in my opinion still young and is not as adapt to playing in atmospheres like the one that presents itself at EL Cuscatlan. Buts ok were buds, you guys will accompany us to Germany unfortunately we are going to have to bring Mexico along with us. Is it just me or does Mexico have it pretty easy this coming round.

personally I seen way better talent come out of el salvador from central american, unfortunatly their management keeps ruining it. Its a shame cause they are a difficult team to beat at home, the US always has trouble there. My question who da fck keeps dropping the ball down there, is their any progress in fixing this corruption??? I have a couple friends who have parents from ES and they seem to have given up on ever having a decent team. It was only like 6 yrs ago when they had a decent team with diaz arce, cienfuegos, cerritos etc They kinda faded in the last 3 games in WCQ for the 98WC or else they would of had the last seed for sure.

I don't think El Salvador is good at all. Every MLS club has a stronger squad than El Salvador's national team. El Salvador is about the quality of a US 2nd division (A-league) side.

El Salvador grabbing a point from the US is about as likely as the US playing a major European country to a draw. It could happen, but it is unlikely. What does the schedule look like? If El Salvador has their home match against the US late in the round, the US could already have clinched a spot in the final six. If that happens, El Salvador may come up against a very relaxed US side and they would have a much better chance.
As for Mexico, I agree that they got into a cakewalk of a group. Even for Trinidad a spot in the final round should be nearly automatic.

The second game is against ES here and the fourth game is in El Salvador. Since the US opens in Jamaica, El Salvador better hope the US wins that. If the US doesn't, I'd imagine they will be playing ES pretty hard in their first meeting.

Of course I saw the world cup. Yeah, we beat Portugal, but what other European sides have we played with since then? I know we beat Poland (who beat us in the world cup) 1-0 in a friendly awhile back, and we drew with Poland 1-1 just a few weeks ago, but calling Poland a major European football country is very generous. We lost to Germany in the world cup, and we lost to Holland in a friendly. Those were only 1-0 losses, which I think is a sign that we are getting closer, but I still wouldn't put the US team up there with the European powers quite yet.

That's a bunch of crap. Most of the US' players are from MLS and the US is at least a hundred times better then El Salvador. Cerritos is one of your best players and he can't even make it in the league anymore. It's good to be proud, but don't let it make you look foolish.

El Salvador`s last results are one of the reason their people think that Panama might have a chance to get the 3 pts in their own house.
Their last results Honduras 4- El Salvador 0
guatemala 3- El salvador 0 or 1.
i dont know how Cuscatleco dare to say that they are goong to be in the next round just like that, they are playing there worst soccer ever, and woth all those federative problems, I dont know what he's watching, on T.V.
My only worry is the actitude of our head coach, and ignoring maybe our best defender in years, Mario anthony Torres, known in honduras as the horse of Steel, even the Hondurean people would love to have him in their squad.
I just hope everything work out for our team(Panama), and do the best they can in this qualyfing round, which might be an exciting one.

As he should be, ES should have put Jamica away, and would be on top.
But there is still a chance; ES beats Panama again, pulls a victory over Jam, this alone might get them in. Getting a point from the US in San Salvador, would do the trick considering they get points in the last two games.

Losing 3-0 at home after a sloppy road loss will have that effect on a federation.
You have to think that having this turmoil arise in the middle of the Semis is a bad sign for the Sallies' qualification effort.
What I dislike, as far as the US is concerned, is that there may be a surprise or two that comes up in terms of what El Salvador will bring for the next match in October. Will they change formation? What personnel changes will we see?
You have to think that this will give their hopes a boost.
One can't say that the Sallies have played a solid match yet, and from the way the US dominated them on 09/04, I think they are going to have to open up their play a bit if they want to defend home court and stay alive in the competition.
It all depends on who they bring in...

Can you see President Bush criticizing Arena while a 9/11 style Congressional commission was set up to look into the rubbish 2nd half US play vs. Panama? :p

They have to change half of the ES team... the team that beat MEXICO last year was formed mostly from young players, under the age of 23, and the idiot J.R. PAREDES decided to call "experience" Players getting rid of the youngsters, who were doing very good... he wanted to make a super team in a flash,,, he should have continued with the young players... that was the key for success, considering that they were the champions of the central american games, defeating mexico in the final...
now it all depends of who the new coach decides to call,,, he definitely need to get rid of at least 7 of the current starters,,, they are classless players with nothing to offer... burnt experience players that have not step or showed anything special to make the difference,,, for example Zarco or Cerritos.
The new coached was announced 7 hours later after Paredes was fired! The new coach is a CARLOS HUMBERTO RECINOS ex-camptain/right defender of the ES national team in the WORLD CUP OF SPAIN 1982 for ES...
if he call young players that have the desire to defend the jersey of ES, they can do ok, but in the situation that ES is on now, and facing USA and then JAMAICA at Kingston is going to take something especial for us to obtain 4 points that can be very golden,,,, but it is still going to be difficult.
I personaly don't like RECINOS, he is the type of coach that plays too defensive, and that is something that worries me,,, he was the head coach of ES 3 years ago, and that was his style of play,,, defensive and in a counter attack style,,, but in a way more effective that PAREDES whenit comes to offense,,,because his players multiplicate on offense and may cause danger,,, and ther return quick... that is the type of game that he plays... but personaly I don't like him because of that. I hope he find the right players, so that we can face the coming games.
In ES soccer is more that a sport it is something serious,, after the lost to Jamaica,,, the local radios opened lines for the fans to express their anger with what is going on with ES... many said that they want the goverment to intervein so that FIFA can suspend us for at least 4 years, so that we can stop embaressing ourselves, and hurting the ES fans that suffer everytime they see their team play so mediocre.
Many said that, they need a new coach, but anyhow that will still not be the solution because our soccer is so corruptive that is what is not letting it progress... and that they need to start with basic forces, with youngster and develope them for the future, and that is something that they really don't do.
I my personal opinion I wish we would retire from all international competition until we are ready to prove that we want to compete with honor and not be the laughter or joke of CONCACAF.

Well I have to agree with some of you, it's not only the coach but the players... a lot of them.. Hopefully this new coach, whoever it is can do something good for the team... I don't mind losing, but I do mind losing when it's a blow out (0-3 vs. Jamaica) when they play poorly (same game/US Game) or when they show no dicipline or class (0-2 vs. USA) If they could only play like they did in the second half vs. Panama, for the whole game we would have something... Hopefully the new coach can too bring a new attitude to the team, but most importantly, dicipline

I've followed El Salvador pretty closely this year, and when the younger players were struggling there was widespread demand to bring the experienced players back. In fact, Paredes was almost forced to do it; I think he might have been happy to stay with the youngsters. But the kids aren't necessarily the answer: that team was smashed by Costa Rica in the 2003 Gold Cup. I think Paredes' biggest problem was being too conservative; I'd have liked to see him play more attackers in midfield. Even so, ES doesn't have that strong a player pool right now, and with Panama improving it's a difficult group.
