William Hill are offering 10-1 on the England striker coming home in the January transfer window after witnessing the debacle that is Real Madrid.
Bargain price for a fairly decent 24 year old striker, might be just the player to have alongside Drogba?

I wouldn't think so.
I watched maybe 20 minutes of the Boro game (in the first half, right after JFH came back onto the pitch) and it was like I was watching a different game than I'd read about. I thought Chelsea was attacking just fine and really taking it to Boro. I was amazed, as I always am, by how good Duff's delivery is. He had four quality crosses in those 20 minutes. You need a central striker who is good in the air, and I as an Arsenal fan will be afraid of you guys. Drogba and an Owen don't worry me.
EDIT: Actually, you do have someone quite good in the air, and that's Eidur. How many games did he and Duff play together last year? How many this year?
Normally I'd be happy to see someone waste money on an Owen, but wastage is not really a problem with your funds, so it would really be waste to bring him to Chelsea. Let him be a drag upon someone else.

Not trying to be contrary but Drogba and Owen are both up front poachers, only Drogba works a lot harder all over the pitch and has better pace at this time, if he has'nt yet proved he finishs as well as Owen at his best. Owen likes the star system, JM does not and will not play a striker that does not work as hard and defend as well as our top 3.
He will not play ahead of Drogba, nor replace Gud or Kez in the back striker role (though I think Kez is a more natural at poacher as well) so he would be no happier at Chelsea than at real mad.
If Mutu can't/won't prove he can fit in here, I rather see Forsell or Cole next year And if Mutu leaves in January with a healthy Robben, Duff and Cole plus the top 3 strikers we will be fine.
Personally I hope we don't buy anyone else for a couple of years.....

Owen may be wanting to leave Real in January, but I wouldn't like to see him join our side. I don't think that he would play well with Drogba because as was mentioned earlier their styles are quite similar. Also, I don't think that he plays with a lot of heart--moments of brilliance?-yes, heart and determination?-no.
I think that the question of Drogba's perfect partner is still up in the air, but I am keen to see Robben and Kezman as the season goes on.

I think we might :)
Maybe we should have signed Rooney when we had the chance?
Not a lot of folks seem to rate Owen. Poor performances over the last couple of seasons – well, poor for his high standards anyways. But I still think the lad has something – only 24 – very professional attitude (even from the moment he burst on to the world scene he was always 17 going on 40, dull little bleeder). I think his situation at Real is worth keeping an eye on, unless of course Mutu starts to return to form. I like Kezman, but Kezman and Drogba just doesn’t seem to be working. Ho-Hum. Early days.
I may have mentioned in another thread that I personally like the idea of this line-up – a 4-3-3 Or maybe it is a 4-5-1

Michael Owen is a bit better than "fairly decent", considering how much he has achieved during his career.

fair enough, the front players havent been banging in tons of goals,yet.....
but like BridgeMonkee said Ho-Hum. Early days. .
whats the point, this so early on in the season,to start complaining about the return of goals from the front men.......honestly???????
if it was that simple after mutu's first six games last year then he should have gotten 20+ goals last season, going off this form in those games, but lads we all know it's not quite that simple.lets just have a bit of patience and see what happpens up untill january at least.
then maybe we could call for changes, but in my opinion kezman will start to score goals before then and i'd expect eidiur and adrian to have chiped in a few along with frank and a couple of other players.
so far weve done pretty well result's wise,ok weve not played "sexy" football so to speak but results are more important at the end of the day.
there are bags of goals within or squad from the backs all the way upto the front men,as the squad is now.they will come givein time.
just my two cents, but thoughts of owen should'nt even be considered now, weve a squad of mostly young players that could be long term chelsea heros but not unless they are givein a propper chance to prove themselves.

My how we Chelsea fans have become spoiled so fast.
No we do not want or need Owen...for what reason? Give this team a chance. Duff's barely played, Robben hasn't since Dacourt (a-hole) injured him in the Pittsburgh preseason game. Carvalho and Feirrera and Tiago and Drogba and Kezman have barely settled in.
Our attacking options with Owen would be:
Owen, Drogba, Eidur, Mutu, Kezman, and possibly Robben.
Too many guys, not enough time unless we go with a 4-3-3 (which we have used a bit.)
For this same reason we have no need for Wayne Rooney. Granted he was superb today but it's going to be really tough for him to live up to all the expectations. Plus he likes fat old women with latex suits and cowboy hats.

I think the fairly decent :) Michael Owen might want to consider his options in the transfer window, now that we are close to losing the Mutu.
