Rangers News:

The BBC reports (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/3677234.stm) that Holloway may rest Dan Shittu. Otherwise the same XI should be available to us.

When was the last time Gino sat when healthy? Will it be two games in a row? If Big Dan rests, we could see Gino return with Rose sliding in to partner Santos.

The Opponent:

Coventry has four draws from their first 10, including three league games in a row. Away from home they're 1-2-2. Their last six (most recent first):

A Sheffield United D, 1-1
H Sheffield Wednesday (League Cup) w, 1-0
H Rotherham D, 0-0
H Gillingham D, 2-2
A Leeds L, 0-3
H West Ham W, 2-1

The BBC says they're likely to run out the same side as on Saturday.

The Series:

Rangers trail 31-25-38. The teams last met in 1995/96 in the Premier League, with a draw at Loftus Road and Coventry winning their home game. In 94/95, the R's won away and drew at home. Over the 92/93 and 93/94 seasons, the R's won all four, including a 5-1 win at Loftus Road on 23/10/93.

The Referee:

Alan Kaye has been assigned. He's issued 21 yellows and 0 reds in 8 matches thus far this year (4 Championship, 2 League One, 2 League Cup). Last season, he worked our 1-0 away league win at Grimsby and Coventry's 1-1 away draw at Watford. The year before, he worked the Division Three play-off final (Bournemouth 5, Lincoln 2), but no R's games. No Rangers for him also in 01/02. In 00/01, he worked our 0-0 game at Birmingham City, his first career QPR match.

Match is on BBC London tonight, in case anyone does not have World (and BBC does not block the Webcast like they do for the Premiership)

Edghill, rather than Padula, for Rose? Is Gino pretty far in the doghouse at the moment? Or nursing an injury I don't recall hearing about? According to the official site (http://www.qpr.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~570305,00.html), Rose has a bit of flu, which is why he's moved to the bench.

Cureton and Gallen forced saves in the early going, with Cureton's 7th minute header sounding like it took a nice save to keep out.

Cook just sent in a nice one that Cureton banged off of a defender.

So far, so good -- halfway through the half -- 0-0.

Cureton had a chance just a minute before and he sounds like he's been very active.

Perfect way for me to wrap up my afternoon. I get in from an inspection just in time to hear the last 5 minutes or so of the game on BBC London. And we are up 3-1.

FULL TIME

14,680 at Loftus Road on a Tuesday night

Goals by Cureton (32, 41, 74) and Furlong (90+4)

Beautiful victory! And a bit of repair work done to our goal difference, making up for that 0-3 at Watford!

Brace yourself boys and girls...

we're fourth! We've had a few good bounces lately, and a (relatively) soft portion of the schedule (although the last two have been teams expected to do well), so I hate to look back at things we should have done (not given up the late goal against Sunderland, beaten last-place Rotherham) because then I'd think we should be top when I'm over the moon that we're fourth! It's crazy. Tough not to get carried away at the moment.

To look at it another way, we've got 20 points before the end of September.

Our minimal goal was safety. How does that stack up?

- Last season, 53 points stayed up (and 53 went down with worse goal difference).
- The season before, 50 points stayed up.
- The season before, 49 points stayed up (tied with another at 49).
- The year before, 49 stayed up and we were relegated with 40! Yep, we got 40 points from 46 games with the team Olly took over.

So, 20 points from 11 is quite alright with me. 35 games to go.

Dare we look at the league table? :D Sounds like the midfield is really coming together.
