This from FA.com:

The referee for Arsenal's match at Old Trafford on October 24th has just been announced.

It will be a vital game for both sides as United will be looking to further improve on their recent revival after a poor early season start and Arsenal could well be going for number 50 in their record sequence of unbeaten games.

The ref will me a Mr. D. Dein of North London.

Journalists wondered if it could in fact be the same Mr. D. Dein, the Vice-Chairman of Arsenal and erstwhile FA board member and after some initial embarrassment the FA admitted that yes, in fact, it is the very same.

Mr. Dein commented that although he's never reffed before, he has managed to swing fixtures and bans Arsenal's way in the past and in any case, how hard can reffing be? He stated that this game is just too important to be left to anyone else and that anyone who thinks he will use his influence to benefit the team he is Vice-Chairman of is just succumbing to wild conspiracy theories.

Graham Poll has been handed the task by the FA. Apparently Dein has bowed out as he's afraid Lehman would strangle him during the match and that Vieira would finish the job after on the team bus.
