Mary Cheney Kept Off GOP Stage (http://www.datalounge.com/datalounge/news/record.html?record=21481)

NEW YORK--As is customary, Vice President Dick Cheney was joined by his entire family last night after his acceptance speech to the Republican Convention--his entire family except his lesbian daughter Mary. Cheney was joined by his wife, his one straight daughter, his son-in-law, and his grandchildren. But Mary Cheney and her companion, who were seen during the speech sitting in the Vice President's box, were not included.

Nice family values. Bitchnuts

She was wisely avoiding the convention. It's smart for her to not go to a place where there are thousands of people who hate her with every fabric of their being, just because she's a lesbian.

The fact that Cheney takes a different stance on the homosexuality issue than the rest of the Bush admin is a good thing for him. But is also demonstates the dicotomy of conservative thinking. It's easy to take a hardline stance against a group of people, or to calously disregard the disinfranchised, when it is dealing with people one does not know or care for. But when it involves a friend or family member, compassion comes into play, which is what Cheney has done.

In short, social conservatives, or those against helping the disinfranchised, are that way because it is not personal. When it gets personal, these same people change their tune.

What do you expect? When you're President and your VP doesn't like gay people...

But she did not avoid the convention. She was in the Garden, in the presidental box with her girlfriend watching the rest of her family be embraced.

That was low. Even for you. And it garnered the first negative rep I have EVER given.

Alan Keyes weighs in on Mary Cheney:

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/national/AP-CVN-Keyes-Cheneys-Daughter.html

"After saying homosexuality is `selfish hedonism,' Keyes was asked if that made Mary Cheney ``a selfish hedonist.''

`Of course she is,' Keyes replied. `That goes by definition.' "

A fine choice by the GOP for Senate.

Keyes exemplifying compassionate conservatives everywhere.

Maybe she was back stage making out with her girlfriend? Anyone got any pictures of the two? Are they the lipstick variety or the butch variety?

:)

As a father, I know there are some things I would not do, even to become Vice President. Shameful.

The real question here is, where the hell was Ed Schrock?

It's possible he was back stage playing spin the pickle with Rick Santorum. The fact is we don't know where Ed Schrock and Rick Santorum were last night. I'm just asking.

When asked why his Daughter Mary did not join him on the stage to celebrate after his speech, the Vice-President simply responded, "she had other priorities."

Did anyone see Keyes getting interviewed-- I think it was on CNN -- right before Zell's speech? He was asked if he stood by what he said about Dick Cheney's daughter and he went into this loony long explanation about using sexual genitalia for non-reproductive purposes and three times declined the interviewer's question whether he still felt that way about Dick Cheney's daughter.

As they returned back to Bill Frist and George Mitchell, Sen. Frist said "uh, I couldn't hear what he was saying, but the Republican Party does not tolerate hate." Classic. Methinks Keyes ain't going to be seeing much help from the RNC for his campaign.

I stand corrected. Nonetheless, she could not have felt as being very welcome. And the rest of my point about changing one's tune when one's own family member is involved, stands.

It turns out, Keyes' own daughter is, in fact, a carpet muncher.

It couldn't happen to a nicer guy. The best part about this -- if true -- is that many anti-Keyes voters would have no problem with his daughter, and yet, I am sure this drives him absolutely bonkers.

There seems to be a big increase in the number of people coming out or being outted as part of this election season. I am guessing that this will be a continuing tren on 08.

Wow. Didn't see that coming. It stinks that picures are needed.

I'm sure some people will be outraged that his daughter is being brought forward into the mini-spotlight.

But at the same time, things like this are important because they might better show the true person the candidate is.

I mean, what kind of mind does a candidate have that rails against homosexuality, but has a "hidden" gay child? Is the candidate just pandering to votes and not believe in the denunciations he spouts? Is the candidate denunciating all other homos except his offspring/friends? Is the candidate so mad over his offspring's choices that he has become mentally unhinged?

These are important questions of the character of the candidate, that unfortunately cannot be answered without "outing" these personal details.
