For those of you good boys or girls who warm-up properly before a game ;) , you find this of interest. It is the warm-up (http://www.londonfa.com/referees/ref_warmup.htm) that every Premier League or Football League official must go through before a match, as devised by Matt Weston, the Select Group's Fitness Instructor.

Be warned though, it's very thorough! :D

I don't believe in warm ups.

They only take what precious little energy i had to start with!

Ditto. Plus, since there are 3 of us, I usually take a small nap in the middle of the game. If something important happens, someone will wake me up.

Why warm up when all I do is run around the center circle all game? :)

Yah, I mean covering all of the 314 sq. yds in a match is very difficult. :)

I find that when I fall asleep it's the crowd that wakes me up when I (apparently) miss a handball.

no kidding! I did fall asleep on a line once.

I thought that the warm up was a sprint from the car, with the kit bag over my shoulder, stooping down to pick up the crap falling out because I forgot to zip it, because the match begins in 30 sec.

ha! love it!

or couldn't the warm up also be jogging back over to the grounds table to find somebody to quickly patch up that dirty big hole that every referee before you on that field that day somehow missed?

Grounds table? (Must be a regional thing.) The only time I've ever seen a Parks and Recreations employee at the fields, they were handing out citations to people who brought their dogs to the games.

I've never seen a groundkeeper before. For all I know, the fields are lined by a supernatural being.

chubbywubby - in my area the home team usually has a table set up near the canteen where the coaches and referees can fill out the teamsheets etc, and the home team is also required to provide a grounds official (just anybody who volunteers basically) identified by a bright orange vest (although it's very rarely worn).

Jeez -- you have canteens too?!? The only "table" at our fields is the clipboard I carry in my kit bag.
