2/ When Saturday Comes
3/ Escape to Victory
4/ Green Street Holligans
Also, anybody ever seen a documentary from the mid-90's that was about the sectarianism between Rangers and Celtic fans? I think it was called "Flutes & Fiddles", or something along those lines. That was a great doc.

Sorry if this has been added to the list of our, but should be...'
Deutschland. Ein Sommermärchen (2006) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0853060/)
A documentary on the German national team's World Cup 2006 journey, all the way from boot camp in Sardinia to the 3rd-place play-off.
http://www.moviereporter.net/posters/0000/6261/DeutschlandSommermaerchen-Poster03.jpg
Being in Germany in 2006, like many BS posters, it was special to see the German people really get behind their team during the entire World Cup. This film captures the scenes from within.
Side note: some of us on BS did our best to campaign for the film production company/distributor to put English Subtitles on the film, but to no avail. Shame.

You all have overlooked possibly the most important film about youth football: Kicking and Screaming

Ok, I take it back...some of you recognized the film's merit. But no one seems to remember a movie about gender barriers in football...Ladybugs! :D

In keeping up with the festive season.... I just saw Joyeux Noel. It's supposed to be about the football match played between French, Scottish and German soldiers on Christmas Day in 1914 in no-mans land. The good news is.. it's an excellent and moving movie good for the holiday season and with large anti-war sentiments. The bad news... if, at the wrong time, you were to go on the quickest of pee-breaks, you'd think that there was virtually NO football as there's only one small clip of the historic match which lasts about a split second. So if you're looking for a 'soccer movie' with lots of on the field heroics, then I'd stay away from this movie. However, if you don't care about the footy and like a well-written and acted movie, then there are certainly far worse ways to spend two hours than watching Joyeux Noel. :)

2) The Cup -- about Buddhist monks trying to get a tv to watch the world cup. Slow and arty. Hard to imagine you could make 2 films about eastern mysticism and soccer and have them be any more different than this and Shaolin Soccer. But they both work. Worth the trip to the Tibet section of the artsy video shop
The Cup was a treat. Watching that with Shaolin Soccer - makes me wish the World Cup goes back to Asia. I guess China would be next to host. But yeah the Cup should be checked out. Though I think Shaolin Soccer is easier to find.
