I saw that move as The Game of Their Lives. It was one of the most boring soccer movies I've seen in a while. Very little or no drama.

Escape to Victory is the only film about football which is any good.
Can't agree more. Anything that pairs Pele, Sylvester Stallone and Michael Caine and manages to produce a great film, deserves honors.
Whenever I watch it I try to imagine how many takes were required to make Sly Stallone look anything like a goalie.
It's a wonderful film.

Yeah, I guess I'm going to have to go with Victory also. A come from behind win against Nazis with legendary players. Add to that, Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine & Max Von Sydow. What more can one ask for?

Actually, I'd like to change my vote and go with Kicking and Screaming. Ha, ha! Such a fun movie. Everytime it's on, I have to watch. Give it to the Italians! Ha, ha!

After seeing David Beckhams black and white photo of him wearing his only his underwear on the news, you wonder if there is a movie following called "Bent like Beckham" The world was still undecided whether he is gay or "metrosexual".

Definitely not a soccer movie, but the all-time funniest moment in a movie using soccer has to be Amelie. The movie can be hard to take, especially for most Americans, as it is two steps away from theatre of the absurd. A young neurotic girl is told by her mean-spirited neighbor that she is the cause of a traffic accident, and she takes it heart and blames herself. When she realizes that she is not at fault, she exacts revenge on her neighbor when he's watching a French national team's game. (Of course, this was when France's team was still good  ) She brings a radio and sits at the apartment's cable converter box and just as the French team is about to score, she pulls the plug, so the neighbor misses all the goals. After the goal, reception returns. This happens three times. Sadistic neighbor goes apoplectic. Really, really funny.
HAHAHA! OMG...I totally agree! I was in stitches when I watched that scene! I actually did the same to my grandfather one time when he kicked me off the tv so he can watch his sport - only with him it wasn't soccer, it was basketball. Anyway...on to the topic of this thread...
...I remember watching Victory when I was reeeally young and frankly I don't remember the whole movie. However, one image stuck with me to this day and that is Pele's bicycle kick. I remember thinking to myself how cool that looked and I was left with the feeling of wanting to play soccer. I guess I can say Victory would be in my top 3 best soccer movie.

I just saw Victory because so many people were going on about it here. And I must say that I thought It was just all right. I love Caine and it was funny to see Sly Stallone in a soccer movie, but if that's that greatest soccer movie ever, than soccer movies in general really suck. It was just like a the longest yard, with a WWII backdrop.

Most soccer movies do, for all intents and purposes, suck.

Goal! The Dream Begins is a very good movie, watch the trailer
http://youtube.com/watch?v=prj9d02plqY
and actually someone uploaded the whole movie on youtube so you can even watch it there.
Goal 2 Living the Dream is just as good as the first one. Trailer

and I think the whole movie is up on youtube, too. (not sure though)
Theyre making a Goal 3, who knows what team that movie will be about.
Goal 1- Newcastle
Goal 2- Real Madrid

Few other people would nominate this, but I love the Iranian film called "Offside", about a group of female fans who want to see an important World Cup qualifier, but being that in Iran women aren't allowed into games, they have to sneak in, wear disguises, etc.--but they don't get very far.
It's a film about the passion for the game, as well as national pride, while taking a jab at the current regime. So there is no need to object to this film because it's from Iran, because it is a protest film. The thing to wonder at, is how was this film made in the first place, considering...

I don't know whats worse: Elijah Wood acting like some hooligan despite him being a total ********** ("the Ring is too heavy for you to bear!" 10 minute pause...) or a movie about some illegal Mexican making it to the big-time while disguising his terrifying ailment (i don't want them to know i have asthma!).
