MNA - TEHRAN, Saipa has made a spectacular U-turn in the fourth Iran Pro League. The orange-clad side, which struggled to survive last season extended its winning streak in the third week, seeing off Esteqlal of Ahvaz 3-1 in Shariati Stadium in Karaj, west of Tehran.
Amir-Hossein Youssefi put the home team ahead on 32 minutes when he converted a penalty kick and Alireza Abbaspour made it 2-0 five minutes later.
The southern blues pulled one back as Saipa defender Pejman Rafiei found his own net nine minutes into the second half.
Mohsen Khalili celebrated Saipa's third in the 90th minute, wrapping up a 3-1 victory over Esteqlal.
Iranian automaker's team had already beaten Sepahan and Zob Ahan, both from Isfahan, in the first two weeks.
The surprising package stunned the second IPL champion Sepahan 4-1 in Isfahan in their opening match, giving Farhad Kazemi's side a bitter pill to swallow.
Saipa left a bad taste on Isfahanis' palate last week when it entertained Zob Ahan with a 1-0 loss on the pitch of Shariati Stadium.
