I know there are several of us that use Hattrick Buddy. It has been announced that as of October 1, this program will become shareware.
Announced price will be 8.50 Euro. However, Directorscut, Hattrick Buddy programmer, has also said that a bulk discount will be available for people who wish to buy as a group. This price will be 7.50 Euro for groups of 5 or more.
I, for one, wish to keep using Buddy and am certainly willing to pay the 8.50 for it, but if anyone is interested in getting a group together I would be willing to organize the effort for the decreased user fee.
The user fee would let you use the program on as many computers as you choose but will only allow one owner to log in per license. It is a one-time fee.

BOO, HISS, not fair. :(
Ok now that I got that out, I would probably lean towards keeping buddy as well. So I'll join. But will the price be yearly, or one time or what?

That takes away the only advantage Buddy had compared to HAM. In fact, HAM isn't just better, it's cheaper too...

Man. I use HT-Buddy even though I paid for HAM last year. Why? Because HAM is a super resource hog if you have Windows ME, and nothing has been done about it so far.
Guess I'll have to look elsewhere once Buddy goes pay only. I don't blame them, though. There's profit to be had.

What makes HAM better? I"m a satisfied Buddy user right now, but I'll make the switch to HAM if it is better.

There's profit to be had.The problem appears to be Buddy's TPE database (more than anything else), although I suspect they're having to pay for hosting the program downloads and forum as well. I don't know how much is "trying to cover ongoing costs" and how much is "with how much I'm working on this, I should get some money for it."
One alternative (that I have installed) is Tellerbop's Hattrick Coach Professional. I wish it would do Hatstats- (and Buddy-) style match ratings. Er, actually, I haven't installed the most recent version, maybe at this point it does.

Buddy and HAM share the same TPE database.

Helghallen was talking in the KC Fed on hattrick about it, and we got a few more in that as well, so I would think we have at least 5, am I right Chris, do we have enough?

Director's cut has not set the price definitively yet or a method of payment. I'll keep everyone posted as I get information. I would tentatively say send the money to me, but we'll figure that out as information becomes available.

Buddy and HAM share the same TPE database.IIRC he's said something about taking on a share of the load, maybe they've worked out some kind of mirroring arrangement? Or maybe he's just planning to compensate Loke_ for the additional load from Buddy?
BTW, I'd be interested in any sort of group buy.

From the Hattrick Buddy website:
The new Buddy Version is planned to be released on October 1st.
I have finished switching to XML download. Switching to Shareware is currently 80% finished and the MatchViewer 70%. I am hoping to have the Viewer ready for October 1st. If not, I will release it some days after in a new version.
There will be no noticeable changes for you in the first look considering hrf compatibility. You will still be able to import your old hrf files. Manual XML Import is planned for future versions.
Price will be 8,50 Euro per license. If 5 people pay together, each license will cost 7,50 Euro. I have not yet decided about special conditions for "poorer countrys".
You will be able to pay per regular money transfer with your bank account, if you live in the European Union. Credit Card paying will be available worldwide.
Trialtime: You will be able to download data from Hattrick 30 times. After that, you will have to register to download data. However, you will always be able to start the program. So it is up to you, how long "your" trialtime will be. If you do not log into Hattrick with Buddy for 1 month, your trialtime will be reset to 30 days.
I also would like to mention that Support from me these days is worse. I am aware of that. It is mainly because I have to concentrate on finishing the new version completely. After October 1st, Support quality will increase again. Thanks for your patience!

I believe that is the way it will work.
