Anyone have any ideas on the number of games shown for particular teams in EPL on FSW? It seems like there sure are more Man Utd games on PPV now than there were a few years ago... It could be that Arsenal/Chelsea are grabbing so many headlines w/ good play/buys and so FSW has chosen to show more of these games.

Any ideas? Does anyone know if it costs FSW the same to show Norwich:WBA as it does to show Norwich:MU?

FSI gets access to pretty much every EPL game played under the current rights deal.

It is financially impractical to miss more than a couple of Man U, Arsenal, and Liverpool matches over the course of the season. So you'll see plenty of them. Also a decent bit of Chelsea. After that, it's all up in the air.

"America's" Soccer Channel showed the 2004 US Open Cup Champions a whopping two times this year, one of which was a desperation time-filler after their planned broadcast got bumped.

Are they on locally but not nationally for some reason? The LA games seem to make it to the package, even if it is the local UHF Spanish feed.

Thx,

Jay!

The Wizards are a small market team without Freddy Adu. That's the easy answer.

The other factor is that FSW does not produce any of its MLS broadcasts. It takes the NTSC feed from one of the two teams involved. The Wizards haven't helped matters. I believe they've only broadcast 3 away games this season so far.

Here are the games with no NTSC broadcast this season:
MAY 01 MLS 021 - Colorado at Kansas City
MAY 15 MLS 030 - Kansas City at DC United
MAY 29 MLS 041 - Colorado at Chicago
JUN 05 MLS 086 - Kansas City at Los Angeles
JUN 12 MLS 050 - Colorado at DC United (was scheduled, but bumped by MLB game)
JUN 26 MLS 061 - Colorado at Columbus
AUG 14 MLS 143 - Colorado at Chicago
SEP 01 MLS 093 - Kansas City at Chicago
SEP 04 MLS 115 - DC United at Chicago
SEP 08 MLS 120 - Columbus at San Jose
SEP 10 MLS 123 - Kansas City at Colorado
SEP 25 MLS 132 - Colorado at Kansas City

And here are the games that were (will be) broadcast only due to the good graces of HDNet
JUN 09 MLS 048 - Kansas City at Colorado
JUN 26 MLS 063 - Kansas City at San Jose
JUL 17 MLS 083 - Kansas City at Dallas
AUG 18 MLS 103 - Kansas City at Columbus
AUG 28 MLS 113 - Colorado at San Jose
SEP 18 MLS 130 - San Jose at Kansas City
OCT 16 MLS 148 - San Jose at Dallas
- which explains why I upgraded to DirecTV's HD receiver before the season

8 of the Wizards 15 away games weren't available in NTSC format - and of the 7 that were (or will be), 2 were made available by the home team (Revs, Metros).

I can understand why FSW shows more Chelsea/Arsenal/Manchester United/Liverpool games as they have the most Supporters here in the states, but it would be nice to see Fulham more than once a month. However, I am not going to complain as I am pleased with FSW's coverage of the EPL this year. I wish they had something like the NCAA Basketball tourney where viewers go to a website and vote for the game they want to see, but that is impracticle for live games at 6:30AM and 11:15AM. The tape delayed 2PM game could be like that though.

I feel like I get to watch every single Arsenal game either as it happens or shortly thereafter, and though I'm not a supporter I relish the chance to be able to see them finally get beat, whenever that might happen.

Does FSW make any revenue from the PPVs then? If not, it would make no sense whatsoever to show small team games mostly. If FSW gets a cut of the PPVs then I can understand why so many Man United games are on PPV; otherwise I don't understand...

Fox Sports World, the channel, is under the Fox Sports International umbrella.

The PPV games are distributed by Fox Sports International.

So no, Fox Sports World and PPV are not directly related, but both of them are directly related to Fox Sports International.

Maybe this Saturday

Not this week. If they don't lose against Villa on the 16th, they have to play ManUtd at Old Trafford to go 50 games unbeaten...that won't be easy. First things first though...Villa on the 16th.
