CM4 was down to Eidos being under financial pressure and forcing SI to release it early, hence SI splittting with Eidos afterwards. Shame to lose the brand name, but after the damage Eidos had caused to it better to start again.
Champ Man 5 devs have already admitted they're going to make their game simple, they can't compete with the SI database, so it will be an interesting contrast between depth and ease of use.
Football manager is not the most striking name, but it is the license name of one of the first great football management computer games. I loved that game when I was a kid.
Played the Beta demo a bit and it is looking good. Definite big improvement over CM4. Only issue is that each game is much more of a tactical challenge, which is fine really. Let my assistant manager do all the difficult stuff :D
I agree all around. I'm pleased with the beta in the little that I've played but I'm worried about overall game speed (not really a big complaint, it's a powerful game). I don't want to get too much into it until a full version comes out but I'm hopeful.
Honestly, my favorite version is still CM 01/02. I haven't enjoyed a version as much as that one but I'm really hopeful for FM or at least FM 05/06. :)

Any Mac users having trouble downloading the demo? I've tried both sigames.com and some other sites and all I'm getting is a browser window filling up with random characters, as if the browser doesn't recognize that it's downloading a file and not opening a web page. I've tried with both Mozilla and Safari.
Try to "save target as" with the right (command) click menu.

This man speaks the truth, if you don't let us know how you feel, what you don't like, and what needs to improve, we have know why of knowing an improving on it.

I've hovered around there a bit and posted a few thing (don't know if changes were made).
However, profiled, can you confirm or deny whether the MLS expansion will be included in FM? I have yet to recieve or see a response from an SI rep at the message board.
Also, I went ahead and ordered the UK version. Will the UK/US versions be identical other than title, packaging and release dates?
Thanks. Love the demo, by the way. I'm an addict.

The MLS is/will be in the game. Just no A-League.

FM?
CM?
Anyone have a moment to give the quick lowdown on the two and the difference? I checked the web site but didn't see much that would help me easily discern the two.

FM?
CM?
--Football Manager (MLS Manager) is the game from the people at SI Games who made Championship Manager. When they split from Eidos, they kept the guts of the game and Eidos got the Championship Manager name. If you are looking for the game that is next in the series after CM4, you would buy Football Manager 2005.

I'm aware of that. I wouldn't buy the game otherwise.
I just wanted to know whether Real Salt Lake or Chivas USA would be included, but, per the official forums, they will not until another "version" is released.

Hey we don't have any information on how this is going to happen, whose going to be on what teams, how the teams are going to be placed etc, so we were pretty much handcuffed in this regard.

Hi all, I tried to download the demo, but it seems to have been removed from the page / mirrors listed. Is it going to be reposted again soon?

But this is where you can bleed to the freaks, those of us so crazy we can't give up our habit. =) THat's the feature I'd love to see is some sort of an ability to get updated data. Of course this may rely on a subscription, paying for a data update versus bug fix, et al. But with the crazy internet, the potential's there.
Naturally you'll have more Yanks chiming in for it but I'd love to see as acurate a duplication of the MLS and A-league as possible. I'd love to try to lead the Minnesota Thunder, for example.

I'm trying to report a bug and still can't log in despite registering last night and using the super secret email link.

I figured not. Shame, really.
I'm just afraid its the sort of thing SI won't rectify until they release a subsequent version with tweaks and fixes, that must be purchased seperately, on the same engine, like CM03/04 as opposed to CM4.
