If beisbol comes to DC, say sayonara to our bouncing stands. That means that the remaining home games will probably be the last opportunity to enjoy this phenomenon. ******** baseball.

Well, the bouncing stands at midfield would go away.

It would be replaced by bouncing stands behind the North goal.

When the stands move, it definately won't be as cool.

So that leaves us with the exhibition on the 29th, two regular season games in October, USMNT vs. Panama, and (probably) one (perhaps more) playoff games. We could have have only five chances left to bounce! The last tailgate is going to be bittersweet.

I'm sure this will turn into major discussion in the offseason. here's my take:

if they do put new stands behind goal to our left (like they did for some US games in the past), i say we claim that spot. closer to lot 8 and imagine abuse we can unleash on visiting keepers. it'll be like our own little ghetto, with no civilians around to complain about beer being splilled on them, no seats to stand on (wasn't it aluminum bleachers type setup before?) and give csc another reason to step in, perhaps they would leave us alone. make it general admission and drop ticket prices and that place will fill up with latinos and college kids in no time, giving us exactly what we need, numbers.

i'm sure there are many donwsides to that location and smarter people will point all of them out. one of them is that i doubt SE's will move there, thus splitting groups and decreasing visibility.

thoughts?

The problem with that is that they'll probably build a thirty foot wall there like they did in the past. All of this fking sucks

At the US / El Salvador match in Boston we all sat behind the goal at a decent height, and it was great when our team was on the attack at that goal but when your team is defending at that goal the action (hopefully) is at the other end of the field. Plus the depth perception thing messes with you....from what I hear.
Would it be insane to take over the opposite side of the stadium?
What are the disadvantages to this? I would like to see the groups stay together.

I intend on being at every one of these games (and tailgates!) and getting my fill of drinking, bouncing and singing. It would suck if the Barra loses it's home, and the legendary bouncing seats, but I have no doubt that wherever we move (if we move) we will continue to rock the house !
We will survice and thrive in 2005 !

I say at the last game we bounce those fckers so hard we cave in the whole shebang. And I plan on taking my seat too.

You know, I was thinking the same thing, too- take a piece of history home with you...

I already have half of my seat at home I just need a top section. Let me echo my brothers earlier comments and say it will be a sad day to lose our section. I fondly remember having my six feet, 225 (then 240) pounds flying a least a few inches off the stands during our playoff runs from 1997-1999.
The memories are sweet. On a side note my Barra commentary is up on the site now. Sometimes life's a real pisser.

We haven't brought it up yet, but I think this will be the subject of quite a bit of discussion for our exec committee this offseason. My personal hope is that we can work out something where the groups can stay together - I don't see why we can't.

You guys should make an effort to go to an Expos game (if they go to RFK) and just heckle the living ******** out of baseball in general. Protest outside the stadium? "BOREBALL GO HOME"

I don't think I could take it, friend took me to Orioles game once and I was so bored we left after an hour, went to see a movie then back to game (it lasted like 8 hours cos of rain and stuff... some guy broke a record in homeruns or something). I suppose it would have been more fun if I knew what was going on and if atmosphere was better than bunch of people eating hotdogs hehe

"BOREBALL GO HOME"Somehow I think soccer-style heckling will result in general mayhem. It's not like "F-U Landon" every time he runs by you has any real result. But when some no-name reliever is sitting 10 feet away and all he hears is what you did to his wife/mother/girlfriend last night and how much she enjoyed it for 2+ hours, things could get a little out of hand...

I'm guessing this was the rainy night of Friday September 6, 1996 when Eddie Murray hit his 500th homer? United was playing the MetroStars in a monsoon that night at RFK.
