We have Forest linked thru the Barra website. Sign their guest book and give your condolences there on behalf of La Barra Brava or DC United fans.

We are definitely thinking about our Reds today. I am on a Forest listserv and am reading tons of thoughts and memories of Sir Brian. Obviously a man who cast a giant shadow over many lives. He definitely lives on in the hearts of the club.

One sad day for Forest fans plus football fans the world throughout.
Brian Clough passed away today and to me personally it was a big loss.
I was lucky enough to be able to witness first hand Brian's achievements at Nottingham Forest Football Club, a club, as you are all aware, is a dear to my heart as my wife is! Plus I have been fortunate enough to meet Brian on numerous occasions. The guy changed every time you met him and his love and passion for football was supberb!
I have been through the rough, the smooth and the estatic with Forest, currently the rough, but as you all know, football has an ever changing face and the next minute the rough is the estastic and then it is the smooth and it revolves.
BC came to my beloved club and gave me the estastic. Although being in the Royal Navy at the time, I managed to get to many games, including both European Cup Finals (one though gave me a suspended prison sentence and nearly cost me my job - email available for those interested) and BC put Nottingham on the map.
Cloughie even signed a couple of books for me and my Mum told him my story about me leaving my ship without permission to see them in Munich and he said "No club is worth that except Forest" and winked at my Mum. The book is signed 'Be Good RO1 (T) Dave Brown' (my rank then in the RN) and is classed as a family treasure. The other book is his autobiography which he signed after meeting him again.
A wonderful manager, a wonderful person and a great guy.
You will be missed Cloughie!!
Love ya stacks

PS To those who knew Cloughies wit and humour it is rumoured that he will go to heaven and ask God to move over and thank him for keeping his chair warm!!

I just saw the report on Clough on Sky, very good and I thought captured him well. Btw the "Sir" in my earlier post was meant to have quotes, at least for the time being.
i've heard that some time in the late 80s he turned back a pitch invasion single handedly--gotta love him...

So true and if my memory serves me correctly it was against QPR. Some fans ran on the pitch and Cloughie was out of the dug out like a 'rat out of an aquaduct' and gave a couple of them a couple of good swift uppercuts around the head and they all ran back into the stands!!
They tried to bring some charges against Brian but it never happened and the next thing you know there is Cloughie on the television, before the next home game, kissing the fan on the cheek as an apology!!
That is the type of person he was. One great man!

Damn
I cannot get up there to pay my last respects to the great guy but travelling up on Sunday to see Forest play West Ham United so will post a report and hopefully get some pictures for the Barra-Brava site.
Here is the latest news about BC
16:00 - 21 September 2004
More than 100 floral tributes were today pinned to the gates of the City Ground.
Security guards said that thousands had come during the night to pay their respects to Brian Clough, leaving flags, T-shirts and memorabilia.
Supporters stopped at Forest's stadium on their way to work this morning to add to the collection.
The tributes included a pumpkin with 'Cloughie' cut into it, books and Teddy bears. Among the dedications were:
"Goodnight young man - legends never die."
"Move over God, Cloughie is coming."
"Once met never forgot. Football's loss is heaven's gain."
"Some hard men are crying today."
"You did it your way."
"What a sad loss. You are a knight in our eyes."
"You made me and thousands like me fall in love with the beautiful game."
Inside the club, the bust of Cloughie has a garland of flowers around its neck and bouquets were scattered around the floor.

On women's football: 'I like my women to be feminine, not sliding into tackles and covered in mud.'
:D
What a damn shame. I looked foward to his column in FourFourTwo every month.
Peace out, Cloughie.

One of my best Cloughie quotes is when he got into bed next to his wife Barbara and put his feet on her..........she said "God you are cold" and he replied "You can call me Brian in bed my dear" in true Cloughie style!!
