I actually enjoyed his columns in FourFourTwo, although I got the impression he didn't care for Arsenal. He sure ripped on Beckham!

One of the few non-Arsenal managers I have the upmost respect for. His record as a manager speaks for itself. He was a great figurehead of football for so many years. Whatever records we have broken, his Forest team will always be remembered for being one of the greatest ever.
Always a sad day when someone like this passes away.

He wasn't short of praise when we beat Forests record

I enjoyed reading his FourFourTwo and Champions articles as well. Didn't really know that much about him when he was coaching, more of it all after he's been done. He'll be missed by many out there.

Wonderful character, and wonderful team he built at Forest. They were playing one-touch soccer while most of the other teams in the league were pumping long balls. RIP.

His achievements are astonishing, first taking Derby up from 2 Division to win the league title in 1972, then repeating the same scenario with Forest and winning the European Cup twice on top of that! Just incredible.
RIP

One of the funniest things I've heard said about him is that when he goes to heaven and finds himself in front of God sitting on the throne Clough will say "Get out my seat!'
He would not have made a good England manager. He wouldn't have done well dealing with all the egos involved. He'd have a player revolt like he did at Leeds when he took over after Revie, which was led by the senior players. Same would have happened had he been England's manager.
Still, he was the greatest manager in my opinion because he took small sides and made them the best. Some of the managers who are called great took sides that were either already good or a much better foundation.
