Blackburn won 1-0 in Hughes' first game and gave us our first win of the season (well, we should have gotten 3 points against Man Utd but the ref had to add too much time :( ). Jansen scored in the second half to give us the win. This was definitely a must win and put us out of the drop zone.

I'm absolutely shocked that we shut out Portsmouth. They'd scored 7 goals in their last 2 games, with Yakubu, Berger Fuller looking dangerous. They hadn't been shut out until today, while to say we've had a shaky defense would be an understatement. That all makes todays result a very pleasant surprise. And with a goal from Matt Jansen of all people!
The report I read said we didn't play well until after our goal, which isn't surprising. Also, Pedersen was apparently crap again.
Our next two premiership matches are tricky, though. First we have a Carling Cup match with Bournemouth--hope Sparky brings us more League Cup luck there! ;)
