Robin van Persie is going to a "revelation" according to Arsène Wenger.
The Arsenal manager has kept his summer signing under wraps in competitive football so far. Despite an impressive pre-season the closest he has come to first-team action was warming up as a substitute against his compatriots PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night.
However Wenger told Arsenal.com about the 21-year-old's progress. Crucially the manager has decided where he will play the versatile attacker, who operated up front, as a withdrawn striker and as a left winger in friendlies. In the past, similar switches for the likes of Thierry Henry and Emmanuel Petit have heralded a huge upturn in their fortunes.
"I have decided to play him central," said Wenger. "I think that is where his best position will be.
"He has outstanding quality and he is a fantastic finisher. At the moment he is learning a lot but I am convinced he will be a revelation.
"You will see him very soon."
