When I was in high school, they always told us to read a lot, especially things we might not read normally, like the New York Times. It's written at a fairly high level, and you'll be learning new vocabulary words within a meaningful context. If you think that'll work for you, then try the Guardian, another good paper (although I don't think you'll learn a whole lot of useful vocabulary in the football section :) ).

Two weeks left? I'd try flashcards. Look in the books where you got your practice tests for word suggestions. Also look in some "how to take the SAT" books for Latin and Greek roots.

Before you flip out about your scores, though:

1) Schools know (or should know) that English isn't your native language
2) You can always take it again. The "read" suggestion is the best one, but is a very, very slow way to build your vocabulary. See if you can find some SAT prep-courses. I took a prep course for the GMAT (a similar test for graduate business-school candidates), and it added 40 points to my score (still didn't get that 700 though, damnit).
3) Why, exactly, aren't you taking the TOEFL?

I almost raised hell this morning at the grocery store for not having today's times but then I remembered how there's been a hurricane and all so we haven't been getting the papers in....

You can't study for the SAT, can you? I'm taking the math prep course b/c I need some refreshers b/c it's been so long since algebra but eh. I'm only doing it b/c they're making me.

You do fine and make sure you take TOEFL.

One of the best tips I got for the SAT was to read the questions BEFORE reading the passage. Most of the verbal section usually involves reading a selection and then answering a few questions based on that selection. Most people read the selection first and then go to the questions. If you read the questions first, you will know what to look for in the selection. Good luck!
