Has anyone ever had the fortune of meeting Arsene?

I was in Japan for the world cup in 2002 and followed some model looking women into a bar. My brother, starts shaking me and pointing to a seat. My tongue hangs out of my mouth (we had just won the league at old trafford that year.) Arsene and a lady friend are chatting. I go over shake his hand and start blabbing, awestruck. I ask for a picture and he obliges. If you want to take a look, its at

Soon after, a couple of Japanese bouncers threw us out. Apparently it was a private party (there were attractive women everywhere.) When you look at the picture he looks nothing like the Wenger on the sideline. Which leads me to question, what do you guys think he's like away from 'work'?

Well ive met him a few times and have a collection of pics with him. He's a really nice guy. Always has time for fans to chat to him. He lives 2 roads away from my office in Totteridge, North London so ive seen him and his wife shopping a few times as well, but I only ask him for photo's in Arsenal situations. He is always happy to answer questions re players as well, which is one thing the club don't really do. The only thing that is aginst the fans that he has done, is that the Training sessions at London Colney used to be open and you could go down and watch, albeit at a distance. Now all training sessions are closed, although ive managed to see a few European away ones.

Rick:
Why did he decide to have the training sessions closed?
Keep spying eyes away?

I was just waiting for you to answer Arsene Jr. :p

I don't know why they closed the training sessions, but my guess is that it was probably becoming disruptive to the players as many fans probably showed up.

I also read in a previous post that they don't allow them to sign autographs outside because of the busy road and could be dangerous or something to that effect.

I'll go along with "Rickbreeze" on that too! I've met him a few times, usual autographs and photo situations. He does read a lot. A quiet, friendly and approachable man. When the reserves used to play at Boreham Wood F.C. at half time EVERYBODY (fans, AW, Pat Rice, Liam Brady, etc) would all go into the bar (the only place available) sit and drink coffee, etc. No one would really bother them, probably up until half time ended, so that they could discuss what they needed to, and then go for a quick chat or autographs. Same as sitting close to the directors box there, and be just a few seats away from them. It's easier to get into Fort Knox than the training ground nowadays! (Lucky I have "other avenues" open to me!!).

I'll second that. Even the sweaty reporter by the name of Knowledge can't get in!! Maybe you could PM me Jeff and let me know your secret?!!
