V neck collar? Are you not referring to the current LFC home jersey? Well, I've got the home jersey, but it's round neck collar with 'hexagonal edges' at the front. Material is kinda good quality and the colour is a very prominent red, just great!! Definitely value for money. :)

Speaking of home jerseys, there is one crappy component to today's match: apparently we decided not to do the sexy jerseys with the gold lettering and the stars above the badge again this go round. I waited on them last time, since I had already bought one of the black shirts that year (awesome) (or was that one the white with the blue and yellow piping? also awesome), figuring I'd have plenty of stabs at them in the future.

I mean, I can understand why we didn't bring them back. Why would the club want a bunch of revenue from people buying a second shirt this year, or why would we want to bring back the magical luck of a European Cup run where we were, what, six minutes short of a spot in the last four? (Welcome back, Ged, indeed.)

Perhaps they wanted to do it differently this time. I've got the former gold lettered CL shirt but it won't be worn again. Seems it has the name and number of a member of the Real M1erda reserve team on it!

Incidently, I own each of the away shirts you mentioned.

It looked better on your girlfriend. :D

I think it's because the shirt had run its course. It would have gone into its fourth year and the club probably felt that everybody who wanted one already had one. As I recall, in the initial marketing campaign, the shirt was created to celebrate the return to the CL after having not been in it since 1984. So why, after having gotten back into the CL after only a year's absence, would they need to celebrate it?

That said, my Gerrard 17 CL shirt is one of my favorites, and not just because I purchased it at Anfield.

Nah, they were introduced in the 2001-2002 season.

But I still like having the stars over the badge for EC games, just in case some young kid on the opposition who wasn't alive for the glory years needs a reminder of who he's dealing with.

Guess I'll have to hit ebay for one.
