WTF could have been said or done by the fans to precipitate this?

I hope the woman presses charges against this jerk.

...WTF is wrong with people?

You support the player that threw chair at fan?

If you had a reading comprehension level above "morbidly dense" you would understand that he does not support the player who threw the chair. Rather he wants to see him cut from the team.

Danks: he said: "that trick bitch would never wear my uniform again - WTF is wrong with people?" Woman (fan) that had her nose broke was wearing uniform in stands and "trick bitch" reference threw me off, as well as his reference to "people"! What did you think he meant?

Part of me feels sorry for this pitcher. This 25 year old guy literally ruined his entire life. He's going to spend the next 40-50 years torturing himself about this. That said, I can't remember anything like this. I've heard stories about Ty Cobb going after fans, but throwing a chair into the crowd? Wow, totally nutso.

That fan was dressed like she wanted it.

Besides, the guy was arrested.

The sports radio rumor du jour is that she was goading him with racist comments, which made him flip.

If it was true, you'd think he'd have said that publicly by now, no??

"David Rinetti, A's vice president of stadium operations, said Tuesday a review of the ninth-inning fracas -- which took place in the field box seats between the Texas dugout and bullpen -- showed the fans' behavior wasn't over the line according to baseball's rules of conduct that are posted at every ballpark entrance.

``The incident became ugly when players approached the seating area,'' Rinetti said.

He noted the fans didn't yell racial slurs or swear at the Texas players."

I must say that if you've ever been to Oakland, you wouldn't believe it either...

Try again Spanky.

"If I owned the Texas Rangers . . ."

The guy who threw the chair plays for the Texas Rangers.

Do you enjoy fingerpainting?

I dunno. Seems to me that Francisco was provoked to do something as drastic as throwing a chair. Still a stupid move, but doesn't seem like the type of reaction you'd see after someone taunts you with "Who's gonna lose?" or whatever the hell the guy said. I like the PR spin the victims are putting on this whole thing though.

I heard on a couple of stations that they had extra security posted that day in the stadium as well because of crap that was going on the day before with the fans behavior.

That's my feelings on it also. I saw on Sportcenter this morning that apparently Francisco might be filing a civil suit against the fans because of the racist comments. Can't find a link on-line that says that though.

I saw the lady on Sportscenter last night during an interview. I hate to judge since I don't know her, but man does she look like a scary bitch. What Francisco did was totally stupid and unwarranted no matter what anyone said to him. But I don't think the all the Rangers would've come over there if it was just taunting. It's like the whole fiasco with the Fenway groundskeeper who got a beatdown from Karim Garcia and whoever the hell else it was. You see your teammates going at it with someone, I'm sure the players are gonna stick up for their teammates.

Hell I think Francisco was fearing for HIS life.
