I was watching the Charlton/Soton match this afternoon and saw that Francis Jeffers had a couple of chances. I know that there's not much love on these boards for him, but do the good readers actually root against him?
How about Seaman last year? Kanu? Volz (well, after Saturday...)? Upson? Others?

Kinda indifferent or vaguely wishing well for most of them. Except Anelka. I hope he wanders the earth in search of fulfilling his lost potential for the rest of his damn career.
Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Always route for them when they aren't playing Arsenal. Not Jeffers though he may be doing well for Charlton, but I could care less.
Kanu & Parlour for sure, love seeing them play well.
Too bad we don't get to see Keown on US TV.

Ian, I know why you've been missing as of late, but, Liz, where ya' been?

For the most part I don't care. Guys like Parlour and Seaman that were central to the team for an extesive period I'll support (though I wish they would just retire), but other than that, don't care. I do agree with Ian about Nic.

I hated Anelka when he was still at Highbury, so I hope the git never scores another goal in his entire career.
People like Parlour I always like to see play well. They gave their all for the Arsenal and it's still appreciated by me. Kanu gave us some wonderful memories, but wasn't consistent enough to play for us. Volz, Upson etc. weren't really given a chance to make their mark ont he first team, whether it be because the manager didn't rate them over other players at the club or they didn't take their chances when they got them, so I wish them well.

As I've gotten older, I guess I'm more forgiving. I like to see former players go on to better situations. I am certainly enjoying Ray Parlour and his role in the (hopefully) Boro renaissance. I wish them all well, but I don't really have the time to follow them or pay much attention to their careers.
As a kid, though, I hated Charlie George and Ray Kennedy and Frank McLintock for leaving my beloved Arsenal team in such a shambles when I first became a fan -- we were two spots away from relegation in 75 and three in 76. One of the few bright spots in the mid 70s was the development of Liam Brady and Brian Kidd. Kidd never really panned out, but I can say that I was there when Brady was born. When he left, a part of Arsenal died for me. He's still a black hole to me, to this day, I cannot remember where he went. Oh, I've read it dozens of times, but it never sticks.

I'll echo the sentiments already expressed....those being that people like Parlour, Keown, Seaman....I wish well...players who were Arsenal through and through. Others such as Volz and Upson....I don't really care too much. I'm not hoping they do poorly but I don't really pay too much attention.
Kanu is a bit different. He wasn't as long term as Parlour or Keown but I've always liked him ever since first seeing him play live several times when the 1996 Olympics were in Atlanta. I realize his record at Arsenal was up and down but I'll always wish him the best.

A couple of years ago, I thought Upson was about to make his breakthrough. And then, like he always did when he was here, he got hurt.

I think it was Inter.

No, he originally went to Juve I think. Inter was one of several clubs he was at while in Italy.

I will always support players who showed the right attitude whilst at Arsenal. Jeffers, I can't stand and couldn't give a dam if he never plays again, where as players like Parlour, Kanu, Keown and Seaman will always have a hero's welcome. I do wonder, had Vieira left, what kind of a welcome he would of got had we played Real at any point. I must admit I was a little disapointed by the Clock End's reaction a few years back to Petit's Highbury return with Chelsea. he did so much for us and with Vieira was by far the best Centre-midfield partnership in the world at that time. When he came for Seamans Testimonial against Barca he was given a good reception, yet was roundly booed when he came with Chelsea. I thought he deserved better than that.

I thought Petit "burned some bridges" when he left? I do recall he made some comments last year about how Arsenal were vulnerable.
Right now he is unemployed, he refused to take a pay cut to play for Bolton.

I always thought that Petit was al little bit spoilt or maybe badly advised when he was with us. Some of his comments suggested he was like a small child stamping his foot when things didn't go his way. Mixed emotions when he left. Loadsa money for him, but he did a runner, but then again his last season was not his best for us. Dodgey knee
Loved the way he said at the end of last season that he wanted to stay at chelsea this season,I mean that was never going to happen...
Had some good looking girlfriends too... ...B'stard
