Just to wrap this up (I guess?), nice discussion, and some very nice posts, especially by scorpio, 96squig and Alex. It's surprising that many people fail to see that you can't be proud of something you haven't contributed to though, I thought this should be blatantly obvious.

What do you mean DF, we expect you to work full time until 24th of December here, and then again from 27th - 30th! Still plenty of time to generate a new thread about patriotism/nationalism/pride. There goes my opinion about American work ethics.... :)

My 50 hour work weeks don't count? :(
Trust me...I really would like a thread on it. It's an important subject and it relates to football. I just worry that the discussion will degenerate into some name calling and I will get a lot of complaints about how "so and so " is a NAZI. If the discussion is civil w/o insults I think it would be great.

Course, I am the mod, with the fascist powers and can delete any post. :)

I forgot for a sec that you have a normal job as well... fair enough then! But I agree that a separate thread would be nice. And I wouldn't worry about name-calling, most posters on here seem fairly fair and level headed.

but you see my dilemma? I unfortunately can't spend my day dealing with a ton of pm's and complaints if it does degenerate. I hate being heavy handed.

Sure, I do. Don't worry, from what I see you are doing a very good job as a mod here. And keep in mind that this forum has been virtually mod free for ages so I wouldn't worry about paying attention to every little thing that happens.

Ok cheers. Back to the stadia. I would love to see Holland vs Argentina in Frankfurt, that's an hour's drive from where I grew up. Seems like a really nice stadium now as well! Hope they managed to fix the leak in the roof. :)

Don't use it. They can't force you to. You will never hear the words "Signal Iduna Park" come from me unless it's mockingly or within an argument on why someone should never use it. And if people try to correct me when I use "Westfalenstadion", I'll simply tell them to "F#ck Off!"

I'll be at the Nuernberg stadium quite a bit in the next few years and I'll never call it anything other than the Frankenstadion.
