It actually isn't a Nazi building, it was planned before the NAzis gaigned power. Hitler actually hated it for being too small. He wanted something monumental.
It is a Nazi building. It's still by far the most important stadium in Germany, a good example of National Socialist architecture and a historical monument that definitely needs to be protected.

Ever thought about having a simplicistic World view? So everyone who cant stand gays and is proud of his country gets a straight red from you?
People who say that the Nazis weren't really responsible for WWII and that the Poles were asking for it anyway get a straight red from me. And this is what he said, translated into English.

got to agree with Alex here.
And btw I don't think I could be proud of being a German. Maybe you could try and read 'Deutschland du Opfer'.

This is the other side of the spectrum. And you may will someday regret that you associate with such opinions.

I don't really wanna get into this argument, but i do see what Alex K means and i agree with most of it. I think he's going over the top with suggestions for a ban(and from what i've read of Alex Ks posts, i would guess that i'm on the same level of thinking politically as he) because, hey, PileD is so incomprehensible it doesn't matter what he says and GermanShephard shouldn't get crap for his ideologies(even if it Die Republikaner) because, "Fussball ist Fussball und Politik bleibt Politik" ----> we don't need political arguments on this board as that is not the purpose it serves. I disagree with PileDs and Germanshephards opinions to a monumental extent but, put simply, this is not the place to discuss these sort of differences - this is the place to discuss hating Bayern ;) .

Do you even feel as a german? Dont get me wrong, this isnt meant offensive, as far as I know you said of yourself to be Hungarian. Maybe talking about having pride in being german isnt the right thing for you anyway. And its not like I did something here to start a discussion.

Maybe it's just because crappy history pisses me off - and the first paper I ever wrote at University was about the relations between Spanish Fascism and National Socialism, so I was already kinda offended by the first sentence of PileD's post ;).
I actually used to think that PileD was a cool guy and I thought it wasn't that big of a deal when he wrote "Sieg heil" in one of his posts. But recently he called for the hanging of French gays (whatever this was supposed to mean...), said that WWII wasn't such a big deal etc. (I'm sure I could find many more examples). Not what I want to read on a soccer message board (or anywhere else), doesn't matter if it's incombrehensible or not.

Looks like you're right. I probably missed out on the second part of that story when I first heard about it.

LOL sure.
Actually, apart from the conversation about patriotism and Nationalism I consider myself pretty moderate (on the left, but still). Even if I should at some point of time feel different about being proud about being German (I mean I am proud that I got my Abitur, but what did I do to become German? what makes me better than the nextbest kid in India working his ass off?), why should I regret having thought different before? It isn't like I am trying to convert any/everybody to anti-patriotism nor am I harming anyone with my opinion. I just think that the world would be better off without such things as patriotism and nationalism.
btw we are way off topic. Poor DF bringing Zucht und Ordnung in here ;-)

this is an interesting view (and quite radical, i might add)... maybe a bit too utopian, because we have to remember that at the end of the day, we all ARE different (whether its nationality, ethinicity, etc) and there are thing in each of these that we can be proud of... and we should be... as long as you dont go around claiming 'we are better than the next guy', making comparisons all the time or subjugating others verbally, its a safe attitude to have...

Well, let me try to make you understand: I don't think it is a big deal that we are different. What I have a problem with is that, at the end of the movie Black Hawk down for example, it says that during the operation over 2000 somalis and 19 or so GIs lost their lifes, followed by the names of those 19 soldiers. It makes you think that an American life is worth more than that of someon in Africa
Another example is Iraq. It is a terrible thing that over 2000 American soldiers died there in combat, but nobody even cares how many (innocent) Iraqis died.
I mean when there is a catastrophe in the world and westerners are affected everybody says like: 'Oh my god, how bad, that's terrible, what can we do to help?' When just some people with few money loose their lifes nobody even cares. Just compare media coverage to Katrina, the Tsunami and the Pakistan earthquake. Most people actually died because of the quake, but I am pretty sure that it got the least amount of TV covertage. The people in general just seem to rate the value of a human life way to low, which makes patriotism problematic.
And yes, I am utopic :-)

i understand what you mean, and i wish more people could think like you... alas! you get some rep for maintaining such an outlook despite the opposition and adversity you undoubtedly go through! :)

Who the ******** are you to define what "feeling german" is? Your pride for massmurderers, rapists and liers doesnīt have anything to do with "feeling german". Antifascist Germans have a tradition to be proud of, you certainly donīt. Admiring the scum you praise has nothing to do with patriotism, it is actually the opposite. It is self-proclaimed Germany-lovers like you who pride themselves in destroying all that is worth preserving in German Culture. You are Anti-German scum, nothing more.

Sorry about carrying on with the o/t stuff, but I really like this post. You simply can't be proud for something you haven't contributed to. I don't really want to go through all this again, but there are some posts about this in the Teen Twin Nazis thread in the politics forum.
