Real Madrid are reportedly ready to launch a January bid for Steven Gerrard (http://msn.skysports.com/skysports/article/0,,1-1151177,00.html)after president Florentino Perez admitted he was a player whom he admired.
The Spanish giants missed out on Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira in the summer and now look to have earmarked his Liverpool counterpart as a potential target.
If true, I wonder if we still have an interest. If he leaves, Liverpool might get an unseemly amount of cash then after a bidding war. At least he won't be going to Manchester now that they've blown their transfer wad on Shrek.

I think we could make a bid too. He's proven, young and already world class.

Take your wishes and hopes away elsewhere. You had your chance and missed out. I can't believe he's going to turn down a bidding war in June and accept one in January. He's scoring goals and we're starting to play good football. AND HE"S NOT FOR SALE. I can see however why real M1erda and your lot would want him--- need to score goals.

I think we've been OK so far, personally. ;)
As I said this summer, I don't think he's going. But then again, I didn't think Owen would leave either. Just some news, is all. (Also, I think you're far more likely to sell him to Real than to us.)

Who doesn't admire his skill? It all boils down to he, himself, how much he loves his club. So rumours like this will persist as long as he remains the most promising all-round midfielder in the world, and it's best to be posted under our transfer rumours, tabloid lies & nonsense thread: http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=122325 Please comply.

Really? Wenger's been complaining about no money. etc. But even more to the point as Nicephoras points out, if SG were ever to leave it would take a tranfer out of England to get a match for Liverpool and for him. He could've left in June.
Perez is a headline hunter. By January Stevie will be happy playing at Anfield and his "buddy" Owen will be tired of occupying the Macca Memorial Chair on the Real bench. I use buddy in quotes since all reports indicate that Carra was Michael's closest mate and that Gerrard has a teammate's professional relationship with Owen and thats all.

BUT more importantly he realised that Liverpool had, had the best of MO. Even as defences figured out how to handle the MO menace, his injuries were already slowing him down.
As for Stevie G. I believe he's made of different stuff. Oh, I believe there was temptation during the Euro's but he got over that then. It'd take this season to be a really bad one for him to think that way again.
I don't think for one minute that if the Gooners or RM came waving blank checks that he'd just up and leave, There seems to be more to SG the man, than that.

I love your optimism, but I for one will anxiously await the close of the January window. I think Real may have put more pressure on him if they knew the Viera move wasn't going to go through. He admitted to contemplating a Chelsea offer, and with MO and another England player (can't remember the name) at Real, it has to be that much more appealing.
We won games last season too, and leaving still crossed his mind. I think we'll need to really perform consistently for his star gazing to end. We're winning, but he's carrying the team. I think he'd like to go where he could learn more and play with (so called) more talented players. Gerrard to Ronaldo- goal, is a phrase that kinda rolls off the tongue too easily for my liking.

basically if liverpool continue the form we have started this season with he's a gonner. if liverpool pick it up, which looks promising after the weekend, he'll stay
i reali cant see him going in januray though cos then he would not be able to play champions league football as he will be cup tied. if its going to happen its more likely to be nxt summer. if liverpool dont come close to winning the title agen, we can kiss goodbye to stevie

I don't think so! But that's only my opinion and that's nearer the truth. Only time and Stevie G will let us know that.

I think that if Gerrard was going to leave he would've done so over the summer. He won't leave in January cause then he'd be cup tied. If Liverpool have another bad season I think he'll be on his way out. He's been giving his all and carrying the team and if they do no better this season I think he's gone because of the frustation. I also think that he'd have a much easier time moving to Europe and Madrid than staying in the EPL at Chelsea or Man U.
