CSTV PEEK: The MWC's new TV partner, CSTV, had co-founder and executive vice president Chris Bevilacqua at the Stanford game. Bevilacqua and Thompson said there will be a press conference Monday morning. A hint at the topic? Dave Checketts, former president of the New York Knicks and executive who saved Madison Square Garden, will be front and center with some news.

Could this be news about the new MLS team? I think it's likely.

Perhaps it's the coach being named or the team being named and the colors or maybe he saved a lot of money on his car insurance by switching to Geico.

What other type of news in the Wasatch area would involve Checketts?

He's going to announce that the finalists for the coaching job are Sigi Schmidt, Frank Yallop & Gary Crowton.

Why not? Crowton once won 11 straight games.........

Well, your GM starts work on Monday, so maybe they'll announce that.

Glad to here of the hire. He worked well in Chicago (if it is who is being reported). But if this is only for the GM it will be a little weak. What time is the news conference and where (as in city-SLC I suppose)?

College Sports Television will announce on Monday that Dave Checketts, the former Madison Square Garden president, and the billionaire George Soros' hedge-fund management company will invest $25 million in the network, according to an executive involved in the deal.

This is still pretty interesting to me.

What's CSN going to show during the summer? Infomercials? NCAA Div I football players asleep during their summer school classes?

Maybe CSN could show MLS games? Sure, Infomercials have higher ratings. But without posts complaining about Eric Wynalda & Rob Stone, Jesse could store Bigsoccer's server on an Apple II.

Or maybe this thread could go on the Politics forum? I'm guessing that Checketts is Republican, like 99% of Utahns & Soros is very liberal. That's pretty amusing, at least to me.
