Why is it we don't sing "Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner" anymore? I used to love belting that out at the top of my voice on the North Bank terrace.
We also never sing:
"You're going home in a London ambulance"
"'it 'im on the 'ead, 'it 'im on the 'ead, 'it 'im on the ead wiv a baseball bat - on the 'ead, on the 'ead"
"Arsenal boys we are 'ere, shag your women and drink your beer"
"eye oh, eye oh - to Tottenham we will go, wiv a bottle an' a brick an' a walking stick, eye oh, eye oh!"
Of course, now I sit in the West Upper I don't sing any more - it isn't allowed!!!

it's because the tickets are expensive and get sold out by rich white snobs.

WTF? First the ManUtd board does something stupid, and now this? Is there a full moon that I've missed?

do you live in london?
most season tickets holders are white, so the tickets are sold to them first.
it barely ever comes on general sale for the poorer majority.

I wouldn't say they are all Rich. I sat in the Clock End and most of the people were young in the section I was in. Yes, it was the lower priced seats, but still mainly young people.
Now, I also sat in the North Bank Upper and hardly anyone sang and there were a bunch of old guys sitting all around me who have been coming for 20 - 30 years.

There are more poor white people than poor people of color. Think before you post.

off topic but more people does not mean a higher ratio. the ratio of poor to rich whites is much smaller than the ratio of poor to rich minorities. not saying it's right, but saying that's the way it is.

Which isn't relevant. There are more poor people that are white. Thus, Mad Theory's argument still makes no sense.
Nor do I entirely understand why white people would be less vocal.

it's not a racist thing. it was simply an observation. look at a group of rich quiet people. for the most part they would be white. the rich is not caused by the whiteness, the quietness is not caused by the richness. it just so happens that that section is full of rich white quiet guys. jeez. way to make something out of nothing.

The season tickets in most part have been owned by people long before people from the former Empire & Commonwealth migrated here, that's the real reason. As for the topic concerning those type of songs, I think that we have all moved on from that era now.

If you were to visit TBirds after a particularly good result against a big club, you'll certanly hear some of the old songs. Not quite the ones you've mentioned. Sometimes much worse.
Mostly its good old songs from the sixties and seventies that no-one apart from the TBird crew seems to sing.
e.g.
Where was he born?
He was born in a flat in Holloway,
He'll play for England one fine day
Yes he will, I know he will,
Oh Charlie, Oh Charlie.
What did he do?
He scored two goals at Man city,
Scored the winner at Wembley,
He'll go down in history,
Oh Charlie, Oh Charlie.
and plenty of others. You should try it.

Actually I do visit the "T-Bird". By way of co-incidence we were singing all the old 60's and 70's songs in the Lower East Stand last night. (Mainly due to the game being a little boring!).

Does anyone know of a website that has the lyrics of all these songs? I have seen similar websites for Chelsea and ManUre but I can't seem to find one for Arsenal.

yeah, because in the heyday of terrace songs in the 70s and 80s, your average football ground was a multicultural utopia.
