I've heard and loved a couple of songs of his but down any albums (that might need to change). Anyhoo, I know some folks here are big fans. The song "Me and Mia" from his upcoming album is terrific. Enjoy!

Someone here (can't remember who) referred to him as one of the patron saints of the Movies/TV/Music boards. I'd say that's accurate.

Me and Mia is indeed a great tune.

Someone here (can't remember who) referred to him as one of the patron saints of the Movies/TV/Music boards. I'd say that's accurate. That'd be me. The unabashed worship of "Hearts of Oak" last year here was unparalleled. I don't think I saw a post from anyone who didn't love him.

"Me and Mia" sounds like typical great Ted, though it's maybe just a little bit derivative of "Tell Balgeary..." But it's still better than 95% of anything else that's out today. The fact that he's not featured on every rock radio station in the country tells you how horribly programmatic and payola-driven radio has become.

Good stuff...artists like this just go to show you that music isn't dead, just hiding.

I like Ted Leo as much as the next person....But Hearts of Oak wasn't all that great. I mean, it had some great songs....but alot of them seem to be just too LONG. It was like he was trying to make every song last at least 4 or 5 minutes when some of them, especially the title track, would have worked far better as 2 or 3 minute songs.

It sounds nit-picky and kind of shallow, but that's what i came away from the album thinking.

Well, that and "Man, that is one COMPRESSED album."

I agree that some of the songs were too long. I think I brought this up in the "random thoughts" thread a while back.

...then it appears we have had this conversation before. :)
